Takerkoust Lake lies within the Agafay Desert, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southwest of Marrakech. Expect about a 1-hour drive down the Route d’Amizmiz; on-site parking is plentiful. You can also access the lake via shared or private taxi, which are readily available in the city. Bus 45 runs from the Marrakech medina to the lake in just over an hour.
The lake offers a nice respite from the city year-round. In the spring (mid-March through May), the surrounding mountains are abloom with colorful wheat and wildflowers. Come in the morning to avoid the crowds, especially on weekends, when city dwellers come in droves, notably in the hot summer months.
