Perched on the edge of Thiepval Wood by the Ancre River, the Ulster Tower sits along the frontlines of the notorious Battle of the Somme of World War I. Erected in 1921, it was the first official memorial built to commemorate the war, and is dedicated to the Irish soldiers who lost their lives on the Somme battlefields.
