In addition to Sheepworld’s daily live shows, held in the morning and in the afternoon, the farm has a short walking path through native bush, an adventure zone play area for kids, a farmyard with different kinds of animals, and a picnic area. Many travelers visit independently, but given its distance from Auckland, some will find it more convenient to visit Sheepworld on a guided tour. Tours are timed to get you to Sheepworld for the twice-daily demonstrations.
Snacks, coffee, ice cream, and meals are available at the on-site café.
The Ecowool shop stocks a variety of wool and sheepskin products.
Travelers who want to stay in the area overnight can sleep at the nearby campground.
Two different types of admission ticket are available: basic tickets and tickets that include the show.
Sheepworld is wheelchair-accessible.
Sheepworld is in the Dome Valley, on State Highway 1, 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of Auckland and just north of Warkworth. Driving or joining a tour from Auckland is the easiest way to get there, and the farm has lots of on-site parking. The once-daily Auckland-to-Whangarei Intercity bus also stops at Sheepworld and must be booked in advance.
Sheepworld holds Family Fun Days on Sundays, with extra activities. If you’re traveling with kids, try to visit then. Sheepworld is an all-weather destination, as there are both indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy.
Less than 20 minutes from Sheepworld, the Sculptureum in Matakana is a sculpture garden, art gallery, restaurant, and vineyard. Travelers with their own vehicle can combine a visit to Sheepworld and Sculptureum into a single-day trip from Auckland. If you’d like to visit both, plan your trip outside of Tuesday and Wednesday, when Sculptureum is closed.
