Fora Beach’s sweeping bay fronts Trinidade’s charming village center. You can split your time between sunbathing and swimming in turquoise waters and hanging out at the surrounding bars. At the southern end of Fora Beach, Praia dos Ranchos (Ranchos Beach) has the biggest concentration of bars, some of which have live music. You can easily visit all of Trinidade’s best beaches, including Fora, on a tour from Paraty—these typically include time for snorkeling and swimming.
As most other Trinidade beaches are accessed by trail, Fora is an easy option for families with children.
The surrounding bars and restaurants rent chairs and umbrellas.
Bring closed-toe shoes if you plan to walk the trails between Trinidade’s beaches.
Trinidade is a 30-minute drive south of Paraty. From the Paraty town center, you can take a bus or minivan to Trinidade; the journey takes around 45 minutes. Fora Beach is easy to find in the middle of Trinidade’s village, stretching out in front of a strip of seafront restaurants.
During holidays and high season (December–February) Fora Beach is almost always bustling—solitude seekers may prefer to avoid these times. March through May is the best time to visit the Paraty area as it is typically warm, but not too hot, and there is less rain than in the hot and humid summer. September to November promises similarly pleasant conditions and few crowds.
Trinidade does not lack beaches: sunseekers can find several more gorgeous stretches of sand within walking distance. If you're looking for something a bit more secluded than Fora Beach, follow the footpath for five minutes over to Praia do Cachadaço (Cachadaco Beach). The beach is just as beautiful but typically has fewer crowds.
