Trindade actually comprises five smaller beaches. Brava Beach (Praia Brava) and Cepilho Beach (Praia do Cepilho) attract surfers, while family-friendly Fora Beach (Praia de Fora) ranks as the biggest beach. Meio Beach (Praia do Meio) is another excellent choice for swimming. A quick hike leads to secluded Cachadaço Beach (Praia do Cachadaço).
Guided day trips from Paraty to Trindade often include time for trekking from beach to beach and a seafood lunch in the village. Many tours also include a stop at a beach inside Serra Bocaino National Park.
Buses leave every hour from Paraty, and the ride to Trindade takes about 45 minutes. Those with a car can get there by taking the BR-101 south from Paraty to the village of Patrimônio; from there, follow the signs along a mountain road down toward the beach.
The climate in this part of Brazil is warm enough year-round to enjoy a day at the beach. The town and beach tends to get busy in January and February, so be sure to book ahead if you’re traveling during this time. The best times to avoid crowds are spring (September to November) and fall (March to May).
For more swimming, you can hike to a spectacular natural pool hidden in the woods and surrounded by volcanic rocks. The pool is a popular snorkeling spot, thanks to the colorful fish that live in its waters. To get there, follow the trail at the end of Cachadaço Beach—it takes about 35 minutes to walk each way. Or, you can skip the hike and catch a boat from Meio Beach instead.
