A magical half day in the hot springs in the clouds
The hot springs were magical. Soaking in the pools surround ed by the mist of the clouds, wild greenery and an amazing scent in the air all created a wonderful experience. The guide, Christopher, was very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. I highly recommend this experience as well as this guide.

How to get there

The most efficient and convenient way to reach Fuentes Georginas Hot Springs is by joining a group tour from Quetzaltenango or Lake Atitlan. If you prefer to use public transit, take a chicken bus from Quetzaltenango (Xela) to Zunil, then a taxi or tuk-tuk to the hot springs. Don’t be afraid to negotiate prices. Note that a return journey can prove more challenging, as taxis don’t typically wait at the hot springs, and unbooked shuttle spots are limited.

The best hikes in Guatemala’s Western Highlands

If you prefer your mountain escapes to be invigorating versus rejuvenating, consider taking a hike to one of the area’s nearby mountains or volcanoes. You’ll find treks of varying difficulty and duration, plus guided tours of each destination. For the ultimate cultural experience, consider a day tour to Chicabal Volcano and witness Mayan ceremonies in its crater lake. A sunrise hike up Santa Maria Volcano or an overnight trek to the top of Tajumulco Volcano both offer some of the best views in Central America.
