Highlights of the haveli include the private quarters of the royal ladies; their dressing rooms, bedrooms, living quarters, worship rooms, and recreation areas. Don’t miss the peacocks in the Queen’s Chamber created with small pieces of colored glass to dazzling effect. Some rooms serve as galleries, displaying an intriguing collection of photographs, royal costumes, unusual monuments, and even the world’s biggest turban. The haveli is a popular stop on city tours and many visitors opt to book a seat at one of the evening performances staged here.
Bagore Ki Haveli is situated by the water’s edge of Lake Pichola at Gangaur Ghat in Udaipur. It’s in the center of the main tourist area and is just a few minutes’ walk from the Jagdish Temple and the entrance to the Udaipur City Palace. The area can be easily reached by bus, auto-rickshaw, or taxi from elsewhere in the city.
The haveli is open daily during the daytime, and is a year-round attraction (though Udaipur overall is best visited from November through February, when temperatures are lower). Nightly shows are held on the grounds, including cultural performances such as folk songs, dances, and puppet shows; tickets can be booked in advance online.
As Bagore ki Haveli is in the heart of Udaipur, it’s worth combining it with a visit to a few of the area’s other top attractions. The white marble Udaipur City Palace is a must, with its numerous galleries and collections of royal memorabilia, as is the 17th-century Jagdish Temple, with its hundreds of intricately carved pillars.
