Things to do in  Udaipur

Yes, two days are enough for Udaipur. During this time, you can visit key attractions such as the City Palace and the Jagdish Temple, take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, and head to the outskirts of town to visit Sajjangarh Palace, also known as the Monsoon Palace.

Udaipur is famous for its many lakes and palaces. Must-sees include the Taj Lake Palace (now a hotel) in the middle of Lake Pichola and the massive City Palace, part of which is now a museum showcasing royal garb, weaponry, and crystal. Udaipur is also famous as one of the shooting locations of Octopussy.

The weather in Udaipur is at its coolest and driest in January, so if your main priority is staying cool, that’s the best month to visit. However, December and February weather is also generally quite cool, which makes these months equally great for exploring the city on foot.

The quickest and most comfortable way to get between Udaipur and Mount Abu is by private taxi transfer, which takes just over three hours and comes with the added benefit of door-to-door service. There’s also a regular bus service between Udaipur and Mount Abu, but the trip can take upwards of four hours.

Udaipur and Jaipur are both beautiful, each in its own way. That said, many prefer the look of Udaipur, with its whitewashed palaces and lovely lakes. Udaipur is also a little less hectic than Jaipur, particularly in the older, more historic parts of town where most sights and hotels are located.

You should visit both! Each city has its own attractions and charm—Jodhpur’s big draw is its blue-hued old city and its huge hilltop fort, while Udaipur draws in visitors with its pretty lakes and palaces. The two cities are around a 5-hour drive or 4-hour train ride apart.
