The museum was launched in February 2000 by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, founder of the UK's National Motor Museum, and is owned by Arvind Singh Mewar of the Udaipur Royal Family. This attraction gives visitors the chance to learn about classic and vintage cars with the aid of enthusiastic staff, while checking out some beautifully preserved old models. The museum is located just north of Udaipur's Gulab Bagh Park, a 15-minute walk north of the Udaipur City railway station and a 15-minute walk southeast from the Jagdish Temple and City Palace area on the banks of Lake Pichola. The Udaipur Airport is about a half-hour away by car.
The museum is open from 9am to 9pm daily, but because most of it is outside, it’s best to visit early in the morning or during the evening, when temperatures are lower. Udaipur gets minimal rains during the monsoon season, but it’s best avoided during the hottest months of April and May.
