This tour visits Mt. Mitake, located about 90 minutes by train from central Tokyo. Situated at the summit of Mt. Mitake, the Musashi Mitake Shrine is known as an important place for mountain worship. While this course is for beginners, there are hundreds of stone steps, slopes, and mossy paths on the course, so please participate wearing clothes easy to walk in and non-slip shoes, and use a backpack.

Mt. Takao is a spiritual mountain located west of Tokyo. It is about one hour from Shinjuku by train. There is an old temple named Yakuoin, built in the 7th century. The mountain was considered sacred, and its nature has been preserved for more than 1300 years. This mountain has various hiking trails, some along the river and some along the ridge. If climbing up the trail is difficult, you can take a cable car, which makes climbing much easier. The guide can explain both the nature and spiritual meaning of this mountain. You can see beautiful nature and a holy temple.

Join me as we cycle along the old road of Okutama once used as a trade route to Tokyo. I will introduce you to the history, nature and culture of the area, which is very different from Tokyo. Along the way, we will come across springs, wasabi fields, old shrines, mountain villages, and maybe spot some wildlife along the way. Our destination is Lake Okutama, a large man made lake, there will visit a small museum exhibiting historic artifacts. We'll then return to town to soak our feet at local onsen - hot spring.
