The Amsterdam Tulip Museum makes for a nice stop when touring the Jordaan district of Amsterdam; or after a visit to the Anne Frank House, or Westerkerk Church. Admission is free with the I Amsterdam City Card, which also provides free admission to many of Amsterdam’s top attractions—as well as free public transport throughout the city. Visitors are welcome to browse the museum shop without paying the museum admission fee.
The museum is located just across the Prinsengracht canal from the Anne Frank House. From Amsterdam Central Station, take tram #13 or #17 to the Westermarkt stop, and then head north on Prisengracht. Driving is not recommended in central Amsterdam, but the closest public parking garage is Q-Park Europa Parking on Marnixstraat.
The Amsterdam Tulip Museum is open year-round. The museum is small and can get crowded, so visit first thing in the morning before it gets too busy. Tulip season in Amsterdam runs from the end of March through mid-May and the tulip bloom typically peaks in the middle of April.
Dutch tulip season officially gets underway each year in January on National Tulip Day. Everyone is invited to pick their own tulip for free in Amsterdam’s Dam Square on this day. If you find yourself in Holland during spring, head out into the Dutch countryside to see the world-famous Dutch tulip fields blooming in Bollenstreek. The annual Amsterdam Tulip Festival takes place each April, where visitors will enjoy tulip displays across the city.
