How to get there

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is situated in the heart of Baku's Old City, about a 10-minute walk from Azneft Square. Many of the city’s top attractions are within a short walk of the palace. It's easily accessible by car or public transportation, and the Icheri Sheher station of the Baku Metro (Red Line) is around a 5-minute walk away.

When to get there

The palace is open daily throughout the year, but you'll get the best weather if you visit between April and October, when the weather is warm and generally dry. Winters are mild but on the colder side, and while you'll rarely encounter bone-chilling temperatures, you should still bundle up.

Exploring Baku’s Old City

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is part of the Baku Old City (Icherisheher), the first place in Azerbaijan to gain UNESCO World Heritage status. It's full of historic buildings. Don't miss a stop at the Maiden Tower (Qiz Qalasi), which hosts a museum about the city and offers great Baku views from its upper reaches.
