The basics

The Slovak National Theatre, with Ganymede's Fountain directly outside its entrance, is one of the many architectural icons on Hviezdoslav Square that make this Old Town square so visually impressive. As such, visitors on tours of the Old Town will likely pass by or stop at this beautiful structure. To see inside the theater and experience the art scene of Bratislava, travelers can book tickets to one of the many concerts held there.

  • The theater has a detailed plan to assist visitors with mobility impairments, including dedicated seating and discounted entry for the visitor and an accompanying person.

  • Most operas at the SND are performed in their original language, with only some featuring English subtitles.

How to get there

As the Slovak National Theatre is located within the compact Old Town of Bratislava, visitors can comfortably get there on foot from elsewhere in the Old Town. When coming from farther away, take the #1 or #4 trams to the Jesenského tram stop immediately outside the theater. If driving, there are two parking garages just across the road on Eugen Suchoň Square.
