Known as the “People’s Princess” during her lifetime, thanks to her openness, charisma, and dedication to charity work, Princess Diana was a beloved member of the British Royal Family. Designed to be tranquil and easily accessible to the public, her memorial fountain flows gently on one side and more rapidly on the other; an allusion both to the positivity Princess Diana inspired, and the difficulties she faced. The fountain is included as a stop on the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Walk, a 7-mile (11-kilometer) circular trail in Central London that passes numerous sites associated with the Princess.

The Princess Diana Memorial Fountain is situated in Hyde Park, just steps from the Serpentine. To access the landmark via public transportation, take the Piccadilly line to Knightsbridge station or the Central line to Lancaster Gate station. Alternatively, the area is served by numerous bus lines, including the #9, #23, #52, and #452. The landmark can also be reached on foot.
The Memorial Fountain is open regularly throughout the year, with longer opening hours in summer months, and shorter hours in the winter. The fountain occasionally closes during inclement weather.
One of London’s Royal Parks, the Grade I listed Hyde Park also ranks among the city’s most popular green spaces. In addition to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, visitors can swim or paddle boat in the Serpentine (when in season), visit the Serpentine Gallery, or stop by the Hyde Park Bandstand.
