There are many ways to experience Sa Calobra Canyon and Beach, whether you choose to arrive by boat, by car, or as the culmination of the Torrent de Pareis hike. Save yourself the stress of getting lost during the sometimes tricky Torrent de Pareis hike by opting for guided walks through the Sa Calobra Canyon—both private and group options are typically available—or explore more of the island in one day on Mallorca sightseeing tours which usually include a stop in Sa Calobra and a drive through the Tramuntana mountains.
You should have a moderate fitness level to attempt the Torrent de Pareis hike.
Take plenty of water, wear walking boots, and be aware that there’s limited cell reception in the canyon.
Plan to spend between three and five hours completing the hike from Escorca and don’t attempt the hike after heavy rains as parts of the path can become impassable.
The MA 2141 road to Sa Calobra is especially windy, popular with cyclists year-round, and not ideal for those who suffer from car sickness.
Take care at the Sa Calobra beach as the water is deep and there are no lifeguard facilities.
Neither the Sa Calobra Canyon, Beach, or Torrent de Pareis hike are accessible for wheelchair users.
Most visitors prefer to start the Torrent de Pareis hike in Escorca and head towards Sa Calobra Beach. To get there, take the public bus from Sóller to Escorca which departs every day except Sunday between April and October. Alternatively, skip the hike and reach the Sa Calobra beach and village by boat from Sóller Port or—if you’re not deterred by windy mountain roads—by car.
The Torrent de Pareis canyon hike is best experienced in the dry spring (March–June) and fall (September–November) periods. The hike is especially popular on weekends so start early in the morning or visit midweek to avoid the worst of the crowds. Don’t attempt the hike in the hottest summer months when temperatures in the canyon can exceed 104°F (40°C). The beach is best visited outside of peak season, when it can get very busy.
After completing the Torrent de Pareis hike and enjoying the Cala Sa Calobra, go farther afield for a visit to the Lluc Monastery; spend some time exploring the town of Sóller; or stop by Fornalutx and Pollenta, two of Spain’s most picturesque mountain villages. Hiking fans can also walk to the Castell d’Alaró or follow the path through the Barranc de Biniaraix.
