The Basics

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild was designed and built by Belgian architect Aaron Messiah. Completed in 1912, it was styled to resemble an Italian palazzo, with pink-painted walls, a gothic-style front entrance, and elaborate grounds with water features and lush planting. Inside, Verona marble and lashings of gold leaf signify Béatrice’s immense wealth.

Visitors can tour the state apartments and Béatrice’s own rooms, marvel at her collection of Old Masters paintings and priceless porcelain and explore the grounds at leisure enjoying sweeping views of the Mediterranean. For a greater insight into the villa’s collection as well as the Rothschild family, some visitors opt to take part in a tour of the grounds and the surrounding area.
