Art lovers won’t want to miss a visit to the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation, where you can admire a permanent collection of Atchugarry’s works, peek into the sculptor’s workshop, and stroll around the 74-acre (30-hectare) open-air sculpture park. Designed to blend art and nature, the unique space also has an auditorium, an open-air stage, a space for art classes, and an exhibition building hosting works by local and international artists.
Admission to the Foundation and all of its events and exhibitions is free.

The Pablo Atchugarry Foundation is about 13 miles (20 kilometers) northeast of Punta del Este, close to the beach town of La Barra. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Punta del Este, with parking available on-site. If you’re not driving or joining a tour from the city, you’ll need to take a taxi.
The Pablo Atchugarry Foundation is open daily year-round from mid-morning to early evening. There’s a busy calendar of events, live performances, and temporary exhibitions, so it’s worth checking the website in advance. In the summer, stick around until dusk to catch live music on the open-air stage.
Pablo Atchugarry was born in Montevideo in 1954, and by age 11, the young artist was already exhibiting his work. Best known for his sculptures, which have appeared in both Latin American and European public spaces, Atchugarry developed the Foundation with the goal of creating a “dialogue between art and nature.” Today, he lives and works in Italy, where he also maintains another museum named after him.
