The basics

The park's highlight is the Grand Tomb, a restored 4,000-year-old circular structure used for burials. Remnants of dwellings can be found at Hili Site 1 and 10, while Hili Site 8 offers evidence of agriculture dating back 5,000 years. The site also offers a public park and children’s play area. Some Al Ain sightseeing tours include a stop at the Hili Archeological Park and other attractions such as the Al Ain National Museum, Al Jahili Fort, Jebel Hafit, and Al Ain Zoo.

How to get there

The Hili Archeological Park is around 6 miles (10 kilometers) north of Al Ain. The easiest way to visit Hili from Abu Dhabi or Dubai is as part of a sightseeing tour that includes transfers. From Al Ain, you can take a taxi or drive. There’s plenty of free parking on-site.

When to get there

Hili Archeological Park is open daily from 9:30am to 6:30pm. Depending on their level of interest, visitors can explore the archeological site in less than 30 to 60 minutes, though they may want to allot more time to enjoy the park and play area. The site is most pleasant over the winter.

Bronze Age sites in the UAE

Hili is the most famous Bronze Age archeological site in the UAE. Other Bronze Age sites across the emirates include the Jebel Hafit Tombs at the foot of Mount Jebel Hafit, the Mleiha Archeological Center and Wadi Al Helo in Sharjah, and Sieh Al Herf and the Necropolis of Shimal in Ras Al Khaimah.
