When to get there

The Tara River rafting season is May to October. The start of the period sees higher waters that are ideal for confident rafters, with gradually decreasing levels that make August and September good for family rafting forays. July and August temperatures tend to soar—if you don’t tolerate heat well, early summer and early fall are more comfortable for outdoor pursuits.
