Virgo: August 23 to September 22

The multi-faceted Virgo sign is often misunderstood as an exacting perfectionist and scrupulous rule follower. But it’s more about purity, symmetry, and order for a Virgo. As an Earth sign, they feel best when connected to nature, have an active, healthy lifestyle, and are inspired by the great outdoors.

Wellness is usually a big theme for Virgos since this horoscope sign rules the Sixth House, which represents the body’s health. Logic and reason are also symbolic of Virgos, as they are associated with Mercury, the planet of lightning-fast connections. A perfect travel itinerary for Virgo would feature a clean, orderly city with brainy cultural highlights, a wellness getaway, or the chance to experience natural wonders. It may help to ease Virgo’s innate anxiety to be reminded that the laws of nature are the only important ones.

1. Copenhagen, Denmark

Down-to-earth Danish hygge makes for a happy Virgo.

One of the world’s cleanest cities will surely be a hit with Virgos. Many say Copenhagen is a way of life, and it’s one that you’ll vibe with: orderly, functional, and community-minded. On track to become the world’s first carbon-neutral capital, Copenhagen is eco-friendly in a way that an Earth sign like you can appreciate. Make like a local and explore the city on bike or via a small sailing tour, combining the outdoors with the urban.

2. Tibet

High-density awesomeness for a humble sign.

Ancient imagery of Virgo in astrology depicts a figure pouring an urn; the interpretation is that Virgo is the vessel, both helpful and humble. This is your introspective side, Virgo. Not all Virgos will be drawn to trekking the Himalayas (though some might), but you will be awestruck by the sight of Mt. Everest. Between the abundance of spiritual places around Lhasa and the striking landscape, Tibet is a natural choice that can help relax and rejuvenate anxious Virgos.

3. Napa and Sonoma Valley, California

A systematic Virgo will love California’s balanced wines.

They say you can’t have a bad meal in Napa and Sonoma Valley. Though not known to be indulgent, this region is where you can appreciate the finer things in life, from stunning landscapes to exquisite gourmet meals and fine wine.

In particular, head to a destination like Calistoga, which offers both healthy and epicurean experiences. Plan a hike in the morning followed by a dip in mineral hot springs or a detoxifying mud bath. Round out the day with a glass of award-winning wine (a great source of antioxidants for health-conscious Virgos).

4. Patagonia, Argentina

A far-flung locale for the trip of a lifetime.

From the stunning glaciers to the virgin forests, Patagonia is decidedly picturesque but not a vacation destination for the faint of heart—a trip here takes some organization. In fact, Virgos will enjoy the training, planning, and packing that this particular adventure entails.

An ideal vacation for Virgos is equal parts physical activity, photo ops, and cultural enrichment. From El Calafate, tour the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. Make sure to sample some delicious Argentinean cuisine or work north from Ushuaia and visit what’s known as the end of the world: the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

5. Vancouver, Canada

Enjoy a Canadian green gem.

Ask most Vancouverites what they love about their city, and they’ll likely mention its proximity to the slopes of Whistler or rugged Vancouver Island. Like Virgos, Vancouver has an understated charm—in the city's case, represented by Granville Island's picturesque houseboats and historic and vibrant Chinatown. Make the clean, affordable, convenient city your jumping-off point for world-class snow sports or for exploring spectacular Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

6. Singapore

An all-in-one destination.

As far as tidy, modern cities go, the island nation of Singapore is one of the best. Well-informed Virgos see beyond the fancy shops and skyscrapers to the rich cultural offerings of this Asian-European melting pot. Take in the colorful orchids at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the space-age structures of Marina Bay, and the many varied foodie experiences. Concerned Virgos will be relieved to know that street food vendors must pass a health inspection to operate.

7. St. Lucia

Forced relaxation for one of astrology’s most active signs.

Mostly covered by rainforest and mountains, the Caribbean island of St. Lucia is where you can immerse yourself in nature without forgoing any of the luxuries. It might go against your Virgo instinct to do nothing but chill out, but lazy days on idyllic beaches can be punctuated by a morning inside hot springs and a dormant volcano or a rainforest adventure with ziplining and hiking. Or, consider a rum-tasting or tree-to-bar chocolate tour.

8. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

A memorable trip for conscientious Virgos.

While there are plenty of thrill-seeking opportunities worldwide, nature-loving Virgos should be drawn to the magnificent Victoria Falls, a waterfall that's been cascading down for more than 100,000 years. Virgos can also view some of the Big Five in Chobe National Park or via a Zambezi river cruise. You can’t go a day there without some kind of chart-topping sightseeing experience.

As Virgos are often service-minded, consider helping out during your travels. You can support the local community by volunteering or visiting a village and learning local traditions.
