What an amazing 2 days!! I was chauffeured and shown around the caves by the driver Mr. Suleman. He's a great driver, and also very knowledgeable about the caves, the area, places and history. He was very accommodating and flexible with my hours, wherewhen i wanted to eat on the way. The caves themselves are incredible, but you already know that :-) Don't try to rush both cave complexes in one day, it might be doable but you won't have the time to appreciate them.

The driver and guide both did a great job. The guide ensured a smooth experience and was knowledgeable about the historical context. The lead from the local tour company Mr. Sherkhan paid us a courtesy visit the morning of the second day, which I thought was cool. We decided to cut short the second day (after Ellora Kailash Temple, the best part of the two days), so we could catch a late afternoon flight out of Aurangabad. They were very flexible and took us back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, and then dropped us off at the airport.

A memorable trip...

The visit to Aurangabad was indeed memorable thanks to Mr. Pathan and the guides that he had arranged for our trip. Our guide for Ajanta was Mr. Nasir who took us to each and every cave and explained the history, architecture and significance of the caves. Mr. Kadir was our guide on the second day and he gave us a detailed account of Bibi ka Maqbara and Ellora caves. Both Ajanta and Ellora caves are absolutely phenomenal, especially Kailasa temple which is unlike anything we have seen in the world. Keeping it over 2 separate days helps in seeing the caves in a lot more detail. If you do visit Aurangabad, we do highly recommend planning your trip through this tour.

The Sites of a Masterpiece

My trip to Aurungabad was sooo amazing! I couldnt tell which one was better than the other: Ajanta or Ellora. But what i certainly can tell you that both places are utterly breath taking! The moment you set foot on the site, your eyes will travel all over the surrounding area and taking pictures to capture every minute of the trip will be a never ending story! Moreover, my tour guide did an excellent job informing me about the history of how old both places are and how many years it took to build them. He was very meticulous and exact about making sure i understood the details of what took place here in both sites. He was quite the entertainer too. Big thanks to Mr. Gani for sharing everything knew about Ajanta and Ellora! Thank you Sherkan for organizing the trip! I'll definitely be back for another tour!

Must do tour of Ajanta & Ellora Caves with Guide & Car

We booked a 2 day tour with guide & car. It became a private tour as we were a family of 4; visiting from the US. Our tour was with "Tour My Choice" owned by Mr. Sherkhan. Sherkhan reached out to confirm the tour even before we went there! He was very cordial and responded right away be it day or night. I felt comfortable right away with him and asked him to provide pickup/drop off services from Aurangabad airport to/from hotel. Sherkhan took care of everything. Driver Mr. Mannan was at airport on time with my name printed on placard. He got us an almost new, very well maintained Toyota Innova Crysta. We were very comfortable throughout the journey and felt very safe (no speeding/rash driving). They even provided umbrellas (on request) as forecast called for some intermittent rain/showers. Our guide, Mr. Ghani spoke excellent english and did an excellent job throughout the two days tours. He was extremely professional, very patient with us, stopped at all important points. He took the time to explain in detail what we were seeing, its significance and its history. We learned so much and we thoroughly enjoyed his explanations. On top of it, he volunteered to take our photos in multiple areas! He knew the famous locations to take photos, what angles would make them stick out. We could tell that he enjoyed being a guide. He told us he has been doing this for 30+yrs! We were very fortunate to have Mr. Ghani as our tour guide. He truly went over and beyond what you expect a guide to do. And thank Mr. Sherkhan for getting him as our guide. First day we went to Ellora caves, Bibi Ka Maqbara and visited local artisans weaving world famous Paithani sarees. Next day we dedicated to Ajanta caves. We were just blown away with all the sights, especially the Ajanta & Ellora caves. It is truly mind boggling how they carved the caves, temples, structures out of single rock/mountain. No words can do justice. You have to literally see it to understand it. Kailasa temple at Ellora - just incredible. Visit the caves, nearby sites atleast once in your life time :-). Go with a guide as otherwise you will not really understand what you are seeing. My recommendation: Tour My Choice by Mr. Sherkhan, Mr. Ghani as guide.

Ellora and Ajanta cave tour

Very knowledgeable guide and great driver Navigating the traffic and roads. Would recommend to anyone visiting Ellora and Ajanta. We did Ajanta first, about 8-9hrs, and Ellora next day, about 6-7hrs. I would recommend this order. Both are impressive but Ellora a little more and carries elements of both sites. On Ellora tour we did a drive by on the fort and Baby Taj.

The private tour was carefully designed to ensure we had the best and comfortable ride to all the sights. Right from confirming the tour, communication details before the pick up and after the pick up were great. Our driver , Ramesh ji was simply fantastic! He was knowledgeable and guided us and went out of his way to help with my nieces medicines. He was empathetic and generous and patient. Thank you ! We wish you all the well. The car (sedan) was very comfortable for the two of us. Highly recommended!

Cave tours as easy as can be

I have never booked a private tour before, but I am so glad I did. I knew I didn’t want to try driving these distances, but our driver also knew where to stop for washrooms, lunch, and even an ATM. Gani our guide was great- I learned so much about the sites as well as the local area (what are the orange flags? Why are there designs outside of people’s homes? Why do these kids want to take pictures with us?). It’s also just incredibly helpful to be with someone who is familiar with the location and can say “buy water here, there won’t be any at the next place.” “You can get a great photo from here.” He also took a lot of great pictures for us- and it’s nice to have some pictures that aren’t selfies. As a tip for other travelers, we did need a fair amount of cash in small bills. 75 inr for a shuttle, 600 inr for admission, another shuttle, another admission etc etc. but having a guide meant we never paid a “camera fee” to take pictures. I would also suggest NOT coming to India in May. The heat is brutal. BUT if you are going to, the caves are cooler than other monuments you might visit. All in all, this experience took a lot of the confusion and effort out of seeing some incredible sights and I am so glad we did this.

Ali was an excellent guide who shared lots of information and stories about the caves. Suleman was an excellent driver; I felt very safe with him at the wheel. Both cave sites were fascinating. The lunch stops and tea breaks each day were well timed and at good clean sites. I also enjoyed some of the side trips on day 2 such as the mini taj. Highly recommend this outfit. I was able to add airport transporation which was a nice benefit for a resonable fee.
