Cooking in the jungle

This was a great class, so happy we went! The place was pretty far out of Cancun which was a negative because you have to arrange for transport both ways, but it was totally worth it. Learned a lot of cooking skills that we can use for any dish. All the food was cooked in clay dishes and mostly over open fires or in the oven. The whole kitchen set up is really nice, with some big propane burners as well. The food was interesting and fun, make sure you come hungry because they will feed you! The garden was new this year, so just getting started as a bio-sustainable agricultural endeavor, so that was interesting as well. Definitely worth the cost, and I recommend you give it a go! They do a different menu each weekday, so might look and see which one would be the most interest to you.

All-day Mexican Cooking Extravaganza

This was an exceptional cooking class!! It lasted all day, and included breakfast, various beverages, and a wonderful late lunch. Every minute was packed with interesting cooking tips and great background info on Mexican culture and history. The location was out-of-the-way (having a car was a big plus) but SO interesting, a beautiful completely outfitted Mexican country kitchen, with two guest rooms attached for those who want to stay a little longer. Alexandra was a great teacher and provided great insights into Mexican life which we couldn't have gotten any other way. We LOVED it!

Just know that you may not have Alejandra as your chef. I wish I had known that, as we wanted to take the class with Alejandra. The lady we got was great. Attentive and knowledgeable. She did engage everyone in the cooking. I would ask who the chef will be, before singing up for this class.

This was an awesome experience and it was so intimate and you feel like you are in your grandmothers kitchen learning how to cook - they grow majority of the food onsite and she takes you out and shows you the garden - we missed the breakfast because our transportation driver got lost but I would definitely recommend and eating the lunch that you cooked was the end to a perfect day.

EVERYTHING! We had a blast. Alejandra and her team are the most welcoming, professional, friendly, inspirational cookingschool-team every met! And I have done many of those cooking courses😊. It’s a day filled with discovering new flavours, learn how to use your taste palette, get to know a lot about the real, traditional Mexican cuisine, cooking methods and ingredients- and all this in the most beautiful and serene setting in the middle of the jungle.

This food class was the best experience that my husband and I have had in Mexico. We fell in love with our chef Chris and Alejandra, they were so sweet and patient with us and made us feel like we were part of the family. 5-Star excursion all the way! We had a pleasant gentleman pick us up from our hotel which was 40 minutes from Chef Alejandra's kitchen. Roundtrip fare was approx. $90- we had 4 people in our party and we picked up another couple on the way- so the experience was max. 6 people. The property was secluded in the Mayan lush jungle like atmosphere- there was a very large garden with many fruits and vegetables. It was a rainy day but it did not spoil the fun as was most indoors or under a pavilion ourdoors. I suggest wearing comfy shoes to walk around as the outdoor garden area. THere was also sunscreen and bug spray provided free of charge. We began having breakfast with Chef Alejandra with a famous Mayan tea along with danish and breads, we then prepared a 5 course meal- including homemade tortillas. EVREYTHING in the process had a story of the Mayan culture- a true authentic Mexican experience! The lemon/chicken tortilla soup was to die for! Chef Alejandra is very proud of her culture and brings this to life through her cooking and you will experience the same. You will not only learn about the history of the Mayan cuisine, but you will also get a hands-on tutorial on actual preparation of the food (measuring, blending, cutting, ect.). The cooking facilities look very authentic with bright colors, and we had disposable cute aprons that were also provided. The overall experience is an ABSOLUTE must if you visit Mexico! You will NOT taste authentic Mexican food like this in your hotel, I promise you! To Chef Alejandra- do not stop doing what you love to do as we will be back! Lisa & Claudio

The location and facilities are absolutely amazing and completely transport you into a different culture and place to learn new things. Alejandra welcomed us and explained a few things, then it was on the the first round of food and drinks. We relaxed and talked for a bit before getting started on our cooking and learning experience. From basic to advanced skills and techniques, Alejandra was patient and informative. Every step along the way she explained history and options to make the recipes easier to reproduce at home. We were so impressed with everything that we are planning to book one of their culinary vacations later this fall or next spring.

This was an amazing experience! Claudia was fantastic and we learned so much about cooking and Mexican dishes beyond just what we were preparing for the day. We prepared tortillas all the way from the corn to the tortilla, which was amazing. We will definitely be back on our next trip to learn more dishes. This was an all day experience. We arranged transportation through them (which was cheaper than a taxi so definitely arrange ahead of time either though then or Viator or another company or if you have a car it would be easy to drive) and were picked up at 9 and didn’t leave the class until after 5 to head back so plan for it to be all day. Also we were the only 2 at the class due to there being less visitors because of COVID so we got lots of personal attention. If you need to contact them to confirm or arrange transportation I was able to reach them through Google Message and she responded back to me through there. I wasn’t able to reach them on the phone but everything turned out fine and they picked us up and dropped us back at our hotel in Cancun once I arranged it with them.

Best Cooking Class Ever!

My husband and I had a one-on-one cooking class with Thomas. It was so much fun. Thomas is an amazing Chef and made accommodation because I am a vegetarian. Upon our arrival, breakfast was provided and we had a nice conversation with our Chef Thomas. Next, we made corn and sweet tamales, frijoles, tostadas, green peppers, quesadilla and chaminones. I had never had sweet tamales before. In between preparing some of the food, Thomas provided snacks and drinks for us. It was very tasty. After all the food was prepared, Thomas sat down to a feast with us outdoors. The table setting was beautiful and it was so much food, we couldn't eat it all. I forgot to mention, after breakfast Thomas took us on a tour of the garden in the jungle. It was really cool to see the freshly grown vegetables used to prepare our food. I highly recommend this excursion, because it was only two of us we able to do the cooking instead of watch a demonstration. The oowner is the one who usually does the cooking classes, however she was out of town. It was a pleasure to have Thomas teach us. Perfect couples date! The food was delicious!

Food was amazing BUT when you say 5 hour experience if you leave at 9 you should be back at 1 1 not 5. No connect to call the sitter. Transportation was terrible!!! Left us on dirt road to walk 2 Miles then on way back had to stop to get gas- terrible experience

Everything about Mexico Lindo is amazing. We are so happy that we had the opportunity to cook with such a talented chef and her staff. The food was outstanding, the knowledge that we learned will remain with us and the magic of the surroundings will remain in our heart. If you have the opportunity to visit the Cancun/Riviera Maya area it is recommended that you visit Mexico Lindo. The transport was clean, on time and friendly...very easy. Gracias Mexico Lindo you truly are beautiful Mexico.
