Great national parks appreciation tour

While we got really lucky with nice weather on the tour, Ben and Aaron made sure we had a good time even if the weather hadn’t cooperated. I really appreciated how they communicated stop information and gave a lot of history on the way. We also had a fun bushwalk through temperate rainforest and learned about the local trees. Lunch was a nice sandwich, coffee and tea station and granola bar. The first stop in Sheffield was a half hour and plenty of time to grab an iced coffee and snack at the grocery store while everyone else on the bus lines up for the bathrooms. We also saw a few wombats!

Our trip started with our wonderful Driver & Tour Guide-Cate. We stopped at Sheffield to see the murals & have a break. It's a lovely little town. Than we traveled on to Cradle Mountain but unfortunately we had low cloud and didn't see it. We walked to the rock and down to the hut on the beach and still got some nice photos. Ate lunch in a hut with a nice cuppa. Also walked to the old house where the Austrian lived and threw the forest full of green moss. We stopped at the cheese factory and i had a delicious ice cream. Cate was amazing and we all got to know each other on the bus. Lovely atmosphere probably due to Cate

You can’t control the weather!

When we left Launceston the weather was warm and clear. Sheffield offered great murals and a yummy bakery and coffee shop. The drive towards Cradle mountain became foggy and light drizzle very quickly and the rest of our time was set in thick fog. It was disappointing but you can’t control the weather! Aaron and Katie were great guides and kept us informed, well fed and entertained. Didn’t get to see the cradle or the mountain. Doves lake was covered in fog but the walks were nice and easy. Not too cold and the beach hut was a great place for photos. The story of Gustav & Kate and their Waldheim chalet was also very interesting. An ice cream and some cheese at Ashgrove cheese finished the day off nicely.

The walk around Dove Lake was awesome! Stopping at the cheese factory was quite enjoyable. The morning coffee at the bakery was a great experience because the bakery was quite exquisite and of great quality!

We saw a wombat only one foot away Views at Lake were beautiful. We could see Cradle Mountain really well. Had the best weather. The Challet at the rainforest was awesome and Bob was so informative about the whole area. Well organised and we both had a great day

Perfect Cradle Mountain

The weather gods were on our side today as we had perfect weather. We saw wombats and wallaby’s. Dove lake was breathtaking, the skies were clear and the day was sunny and warm.

Comfortable tour

The weather on the day we went there was wonderful. Sunny and warm. Our tour guide Keri was nice and knowledgeable and led us through the walking tracks. She drove with care and that made us rest assured. Light meals and hot drinks were included. Food quality was higher than expected. Highly recommend joining this tour if you don’t want to drive by yourself.

Garry and Keri were a great a team. Garry was very informative and knowledgeable about the local areas and stories, while Keri was an excellent driver across the mountain with its deep curves. The bus itself was very comfortable and both of them made sure we were well looked after. This was our last tour on our trip and the best. Highly recommend this tour.

Glad I booked this tour instead of driving on our own to Cradle Mountain. I learnt so much through this trip and would definitely recommend this to my friends! Lunch was great as well - we were given a sandwich + soup which was great for the cool weather. Huge shout out to John & David for this awesome trip, thank you!

If you come to Launceston, this tour is a must to do. The view is amazing and the tour guides were also wonderful. The tour also provided lunch, water and snacks. So perfect. However, could be better if we have more time in Dove Lake instead of other places.

Very disappointed

Unfortunately, the behavior of our tour guide Ben significantly impacted the enjoyment of the tour for both myself and my family. Much like the reviews below from December, he was rude and extremely impressed with himself, spending 20 minutes discussing HIS favorite restaurants, and being so rude Throughout the day, he was excessively controlling, particularly during moments when it was time to disembark from the bus. Instead of allowing us the freedom to explore within the established guidelines, he repeatedly insisted on specific actions, causing unnecessary stress. Moreover, he frequently interrupted our conversations during designated break times, making the experience less enjoyable. The constant need to adhere to his instructions created a tense and unpleasant atmosphere. The stress from trying to manage our movements to avoid reprimand has resulted in a severe migraine that persisted throughout the day. In light of these issues, I requested a full refund for the cost of the tour, however was rejected by the supplier. I believe this was a fair resolution given the circumstances. I hope you will take steps to address the conduct of this tour guide to prevent similar issues for future customers.

First rule of being a tour guide: count the passengers on board

The pros: an amazing part of Tasmania and highly recommend a visit to Cradle Mountain. The cons: the tour guide and bus driver left myself and 6 people behind at the Cradle Mountain toilet block and headed back to Launceston without us. This was not our fault, we were told a coach was coming to pick us up in 10-15 minutes after a change of shuttle buses down to Dove Lake. After waiting an hour the bus finally returned, only because one of the passengers left behind contacted the tour operators to let them know we had been forgotten. We were offered an apology as we got back on the bus but no explanation. The tour guide also spent 15 minutes on arriving back in to Launceston outlining his favourite restaurant recommendations. This included how recently he had been there, who he went with and how much money he spent. This information was unnecessary, as agreed by a number of passengers on the bus at the time. Perhaps a commentary of Launceston’s history/ buildings/ land marks would have been more beneficial?
