Hampton Court Palace, a great and lovely experience.

From the start, the booking of this experience, details re meeting up with Sheila our tour guide and the tour itself, everything has been very good. Sheila was careful to ensure that the tour was tailored to what we wanted to see as the history of Hampton Court Palace spans many monarchs and she did not disappoint. We can thoroughly recommend Sheila for making this a most memorable visit.

Worth ever penny

Shelia was the uttermost professional guide. She asked what we would like to find out about and then incorporated that into the tour. It never seemed rushed and felt more like a conversation with a knowledgeable friend rather than just listening. We felt that we learnt so much yesterday and it was not just the audio tour in human form. Shelia had stories and behind the scenes information from her years of experience working as a Warder. Overall we cannot recommend this highly enough.

Superb guided tour

NB I am evaluating the private guided tour I booked - not the company VIATOR. Sheila Dunsmore is an exceptionally knowledgeable person. She provided us with a wealth of historical information and also introduced some anecdotal material into her tour, even slipping easily into some rhyming verse as she conjured up a ghostly atmosphere in one of her tales. The tour was extensive and took into account our specific interests in the Tudors. We felt privileged to be able to gain some special insights into the architecturs, and the personal stories of the residents, of Hampton Court Palace through the ages. Sheila's lively and entusiastic presentataion were totally engaging.

Sheila was a wonderful and well informed guide. My mother has some mobility challenges and she was so flexible and helpful as we secured a wheelchair and was even able to find the best path through the castle when pushing the chair. She knew so much about the history, the castle, the monarchy and the region…..highly recommend Sheila!

I could not recommend this tour any higher. Sheila was absolutely engaging and extremely knowledgeable. She tailored the tour to our interests, and always answered questions that demonstrated the depth of her knowledge. She made sure that my two preteen boys were ready to take in information, which is no small task. They absolutely adored the tour and said it was one of the best things we’ve done since we’ve come to England.

Sheila gave my family a tour of Hampton Court. It was fantastic! She was so informed about so many aspects of life at Hampton Court. She went above and beyond what was promised as part of our tour. Our daughters (aged 12 and 15) were enthralled by the stories told and history shared. Sheila really made history come alive for us. Were it not for our rumbling tummies, we could have easily spent hours more at Hampton Court. You can tell that Sheila really is passionate about what she does and that enthusiasm comes across in her private tours at Hampton Court. I would highly recommend a tour with Sheila. You will not be disappointed. And now, a word from my 12 year old….. Hi! Sheila was really talented, and gifted with the Tudor Wives, the architectural scenery, and the landscape. She even could tell us about Eavesdroppers on the ceiling and the original colors (Turquoise blue??). This was really amazing and informative to the whole family, and even when we were tired.. it was still fun. At the end we got a story of Katherine Howard, and the Haunted Gallery. It was fun, and I believe that any Six fan, Bridgerton fan, or regular family, would be well pleased with Sheila.

Sheila kept us enthralled for more than 4 hours with stories about the palace and its illustrious inhabitants over the centuries. She has a deep knowledge of history and is very charming and easy to understand. We all agreed that we had a 100% better visit due to her excellent tour. We highly recommend the visit and the private tour with Sheila. Booking the tour online was easy and Viator communicated well with us so that we were comfortable with the arrangements.
