Rundtur i Matera

Vår turné med Vito var underbar från det ögonblick som vi träffade honom på torget tills han släppte oss en timme senare. Han var mycket kunnig om staden och svarade på alla våra många frågor. Det har verkligen lagt mycket till vårt besök i Matera. Jag skulle rekommendera Vito till alla som letar efter ett underbart sätt att starta ditt besök i Matera!

SInce Viator never confirmed my email address until 6 messages and calls later I did not receive the voucher until last minute and I advised suppler that morning about delays with voucher instructions and then traffic, causing us to be 15 min late. Well we then had our tour shortened because we were late! It felt very rushed and we could not hear him talking he was too soft spoken.

Disappointing tour

It was a very quick flit round Matera and we felt very short changed! We arrived well before our 10am slot but our driver arrived at least 10 minutes late, so not a good start! Driver was clearly getting over a cold, he was certainly not at his best. No earphone facility so it was difficult to hear what he said with the engine and traffic noise. We stopped briefly at two points (the archeological work and a church) for a quick glimpse as he said he had to get back for another ride so we had to be quick! There were no entrances to sites included as had been advertised for this tour which was extremely disappointing.

Our guide Vito was wonderful! Very informative and knowledgeable. He knew everything about the history and culture of Matera and was enthusiastic and generous to convey it to our party of four. The Ape Tour was a great overview of Matera. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and how it had changed. Walking all that distance would have been strenuous and difficult so the tuk tuk was a perfect way to orient ourselves to the city. I would highly recommend them.

If there were more stars, I would leave them! Our tour guide has a deep family tie to Matera. He was able to share a lot of fascinating information about the old world and all the modern changes. If you were a James Bond fan, he even had some behind the scenes photos from the filming! Super sweet guy. We enjoyed our tour.

Do this upon arrival. Set time and place for pickup at entrance of Sassi or your hotel and drop off to either your hotel or restaurant for dinner. Ask guide scenes where NO TIME TO DIE were shot. Then skip these places where u when you're on foot. I suggest do the walks at night to enjoy the city lights.

Great Guide and Way to See This Amazing City

Our first visit to Matera and this is a great way to see the amazing city. Vito was a great guide and shared a great deal of history as we took the tuk tuk ride through the narrow streets. As we'd found out about Matera through the latest Bond film he even pointed out film locations and showed us some of the videos he'd taken of the film being shot in Matera. Great for us when watching the film again. Thank you Vito for the tour of your wonderful home town, thoroughly enjoyed it.
