En guide är en nödvändighet när du tar en tur runt Eiffeltornet. Vi stod i nästan en timme i kö men kände inget av det eftersom vår guide underhöll oss under det hela. Han pratade med oss under hela köandet och gick runt på andra våningen. Han pekade ut de viktigaste sevärdheterna för oss och lämnade oss att utforska på egen hand efter det.

The guide’s explanation about the Eiffel tower and its history was very interesting. The behind stories based on the historical background was not the story that you can easily have.

Ripped off. Avoid Viator scammers and book with Eiffel Tower directly!

If I could leave zero stars, I would. This tour started with the tour guide telling me that she ‘didn’t like’ Paris and would rather be ‘in Vancouver’. Brilliant start. We wandered over the the Eiffel Tower to be told that we would have to stand in line, no fast track, but it would ‘be okay’ because she would tell us all about the tower. She didn’t. She did say we would be unlikely to get to the Summit that we’d paid for because it was closed. Before even joining the line, we spent 20 mins outside the men’s loos just waiting around for people. I asked the tour guide where the river boat would depart from and she stated that that part of the trip had been ‘cancelled’. She said that boats had not been able to cruise the Seine for four days so Viator had my money knowing they could not fulfil this part of the deal. Then we got into a lengthy queue with every other tourist to wait for almost two hours with the rest of the world. There was no information forthcoming from the guide- we learnt nothing. This was the first day of our holiday and an awful start. Viator charged me £100+ for two Tower tickets that would have cost €45 had we just booked directly with the Tower ticket office. To make matters worse, our tour guide gleefully told the whole queue that we were ‘probably wondering’ what we ‘paid for’ and then proceeded to state that Viator add 30% to experience prices with the tour guide getting a further 20% mark up. Viator refuse to refund this travesty of an experience- AVOID!

Hello Jennifer, thanks for your review. 1) In the tour description, it is clearly mentioned (the very 1st sentence) that it's not skip the line tour. Everyone was aware of that. The tickets were purchased at 6:18pm, the line was for the elevator and not for the tickets. For your information, even the skip the line people had to wait because the elevator was not working. 2) regarding the river cruise, it was still operating untill Thursday night. The level of water inside the river is higher than usual which resulted in the river cruises to be out of service. 3) For sure you didn't learn anything about the Eiffel Tower because you decided to continue to the summit before even the guide started speaking about the history of the tower. 4) you requested a full refund even though you went to the summit, we issued you on the same day, a partial refund that is related to the river cruise part. 5) all the other guests were happy and satisfied.

I must say this booking is totally misleading and taking more money. You make the booking for the dedicated slot but the scenario is you go into the normal people queue and wait for over 3 to 5 hours to reach the lifts. We had 3 kids and we all were exhausted waiting and had to leave the queue in the middle as we had been waiting for over 3 hours after passing the first security, still the second security plus reaching to lift and getting in is a long queue over 2 hours. It was total waste of time. I request to refund full amount as only partial amount was refunded.

Hello Hardik, Thank you for review, however, what is terrible is that you were talking in an inappropriate way (screaming) on the guide. Also, booking a tour without looking into the description or what it includes is not our fault. We issued an 80% refund although we were not obliged to do so. In a nutshell, your review is misleading and doesn’t really reflect what happened.

Missed opportunity

We didn’t get to go up in the tower. The who tour was cancelled due to the elevator operators strike. Everyone was to get a refund.

Hello John, Thank you for your feedback. As you have seen with the guide, the waiting time on that day was approximately 3hours. We gave you several options, to queue in the line, join the next tour at 5:30pm or get a full refund. Since you were unable to join due to organized plans, the team has directly proceeded with the refund. The situation of the elevators is not in our hands and we can’t know it in advance, as it is the Eiffel Tower's management decision. Lastly I totally understand your disappointment, however, the 1 star review is low knowing that we made our best to provide you with alternatives to compensate the force majeure. Thank you,

Just go and buy a ticket

We bought this because the online sales were sold out directly. Did not realize you could just walk up and buy a ticket when they were sold out online. This wouldn't have bothered me if the tour group had prepurased our tickets but all they did was wait with us in the line and charged a huge premium. For access to the summit it was 30 euro for adults and free for our 3 year old (60 total). They charged us 220 to take us through the line without having bought the tickets yet, buy them and take us up. We essentially paid 160 euro for a chaperone through the line to tell us about the tower. I understand paying for the guide but it was a group and really the reason we bought these was because we thought couldn't just walk up and get them like we had to wait to do anyway and we were going to skip the ticket line.

Auch der freundliche und hilfsbereite Guide ändert nichts an der Tatsache, dass der Mehrwert dieses Angebots darin bestand, dass der Guide für uns die Tickets gekauft hatte, was wir effektiv auch selber hätten machen können. Wir sind mit unserem 6-jährigen Sohn über 1.5 Stunden vor der Ticketkasse angestanden, wie alle anderen Eiffelturm-Besucher, die ohne Guide da waren. Als wir endlich im 2. Stock angelangt sind und eine Führung erwarteten, hat uns der Guide ein paar "fun facts" über den Eiffelturm mitgeteilt, was sie nicht länger als 3 Minuten gekostet hat. Anschliessend hat sie sich verabschiedet und gegangen. Für den Lift in die 3. Etage gingen wir entsprechend alleine (anstehen). Hätte der Guide die Tickets schon im Vorfeld gekauft, hätte das lange Anstehen für die Teilnehmer so vermieden werden können.

Hello Alla, Thank you for your review. First of all it's mentioned that the tour is not skip the line. On the day of your visit the tower had so many people entering at the same time which led to having more waiting time. The guide was speaking about the tower while you were in the Q and on the second floor she showed you around and then let you explore the summit on your own. Last thing I'm really sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully you enjoyed the tour and the tower
