    Gå till Fajardo en halvtimme före din avgång för att checka in med din guide. Hoppa sedan ombord på en kajak för två personer, utrustad med paddlar och flytvästar, och bege dig ut i vattnet. Om du är själv eller i en grupp med ett udda antal personer, kommer du att paras ihop med en medbesökare.

    Paddla genom mangroveskogar och njut av utsikten över den naturliga skönheten runt dig när du tar dig till Laguna Grande, kallad "Bioluminescent Bay". Följ din guide in i lagunen för att lära dig om mikroorganismerna som lyser upp vattnet och se dem i aktion. Rör upp vattnet med din paddel eller hand för att se glöden intensifieras. När det är dags att gå tillbaka, paddla vägen du kom, genom mangrove och tillbaka till din utgångspunkt.

    Magical Kayak Experience

    A wonderful, magical experience! Truly like a fairy-tale paddling through the mangrove trees with fireflies (lightening bugs) lighting up the trees and the bioluminescent plankton sparkling in the water every time you put your paddle in. Unbelievable! Highly recommend this tour and guide company. They were very attentive and knowledgable. The only negative I have is that there are also boats with motors on them that share the canal and lagoon. Them being in the canal, with no lights or warning, is a bit unsettling. This does not deter me from giving a 5-star review.

    It was just spectacular and a memorable tour. None of my girl friends had any kayak experience but the was staff was sooper helpful n made we were safe and had a wonderful experience. Special thanks to Pedro

    We took the two hour tour from 8:30-10:30. Everyone was kind and nice and friendly and accommodating. The guide was knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions and was very personable. Only giving 4 stars as there was no free time in the bay to paddle around and enjoy the area, you had to stay with the group the entire time. They also have a rather strict weight limit so pay attention to the weight limit on their site as they DO weigh you before you get on (and if it’s close it becomes a bit or an ordeal…).
    Magical!!! Once in a lifetime experience 😁

    The guides were great, going through the mangroves in the dark was an exciting experience and the bioluminescence was nothing short of magical!!!

    Great guides. The wide range in kayaking skills made it a little crazy. I was rear-ended more than I could keep track of. The bioluminescence was amazing and seemed to appear soon after we started rowing. We put tarps over the boats to see the glow. I hated that. The boats were so close together that we could barely move the water around. This would’ve been much more enjoyable without lining everyone up like sardines. We had 4 guides and most did not have lights on their canoes and seemed to be right where I wanted to row. We ended up getting stuck on some tree roots and the guides were great helping us get out and getting everybody back in line. Overall I loved it! It was an experience I will not forget.

    This was an incredible experience! My 19 year old daughter and I enjoyed paddling through the mangroves. It didn’t seem real! We both would have been satisfied just with that experience, but then arrived at Laguna Grande which warm and peaceful. The full moon made it very pretty but of course harder to see the dinoflagellates. The guides use tarps during full moons and it was really fun to splash and see the lights. Highly recommend! You get wet from the waist down so keep that in mind. We were fine with flip flops, there’s minimal rocks on the brief wade out to the kayaks. Pedro especially kept us entertained and was very knowledgeable!

    The bioluminescent did not disappoint!! Our guides were fun & helpful. Pedro was very entertaining!! Highly recommend. Kayaking in the dark was very amusing. We had a great time.! The only reason I didn't do five stars is because If we had known and been told in advance, we could have been enjoying the bioluminescent halfway through the mangrove and in the lagoon, prior to the stop and group hook up. Without knowing that, you're not looking for it or doing the right movements. The amount of time we actually had to enjoy it was limited.. We were able, however, to enjoy it more on the kayak back in. Very cool experience. Go do this!

    The guides were friendly and kind. Plus, the kayaking was very cool. It was raining so I think the bioluminescence was pretty minimal. We still had a great time

    Kayaking in the dark was a really memorable experience. And our guide Pedro was very friendly and knowledgeable. But there were SO MANY other tour groups, as well as a large group of people kayaking in our group. It wasn’t peaceful or relaxing at all. More like bumper cars. Also, it saddened us to see so many starving dogs in the area (Kayak Village). We tried to feed them but the restaurant threw out the food that we put out for the dogs. The kayak tour companies also didn’t seem to care about the dogs at all. Very sad.

    Heidi, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sad to read that it wasn't a relaxing experience but kayaking in the dark isn't easy for everyone. It is an unfortunate situation that there are so many stray dogs in our island. However there are many groups that focus on rescuing, fostering and finding forever homes for them.

    We had a fun time, the glowing bay is real but a bit anti climatic. We were in the 2nd day of a new moon phase so the sky was dark but the lights from the city were bright. So the only way to actually see the microbs glow we all got to cover our heads with tarps and scoop water into the kayak. The kayak ride to and fro was the most entertaining as so many had no experience at all and were running into things including other kayakers.

    Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we do use a tent to block out external factors that could affect the visibility of the dinoflagellates. There are other companies that also go into the bio bay and there's always a bit of traffic going in or out of the canal. Again, we thank you for sharing your experience.
    Could be worth it if you know what you're looking for

    I will start by saying that my review is based on my personal experience. I acknowledge that others might have found this experience to be more fun and exciting, but after the time it took us to rent a car, drive to Fajardo, and complete the experience, it did not feel worth it. In order to reach the Bioluminescent Bay, there is a 15-20 minute kayak trip through a mangrove. This would have been a neat experience, but you are single file with about 10 other kayaks in your group and there are various other tour groups operating in the same space. The bioluminescence itself was very cool, but the guides had to use tarps to block out the light pollution that made it almost impossible to see the plankton. The guides themselves were incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and passionate about what they do. The average experience was not at all due to the guides, but rather the trip as a whole. Puerto Rico has a lot to offer. If I were recommending things to do to a friend, I would leave this experience off of my list.

    It was a fun and cool experience! Yes, you do have to wade in the water to get into the kayak and the water or area does stink so I do recommend bringing a change of clothes. Once you get to the bay they will put a tarp over your head to make it dark to enhance the experience. The guides were all very nice, respectful, and helpful the whole time we were there. Overall we enjoyed the experience!

    What a fantastic experience. The Kayaking Island Team were great at giving instructions, shared some history and scientific information about the place. Pedro, Jesus, Belen, and Marcus were funny and super helpful. A must do if you can make it to the Fajardo area in PR.

    The team so informative. They got everyone ready and made sure it all went well. I was so impressed at the knowledge and the enjoyment. I highly recommend this excursion. I will add I don't enjoy the dark but the team made it so comfortable. The whole experience was beautiful.

    It was an amazing experience, from kayaking in the dark seeing the starts until the bioluminescence experience. I loved every part of the experience and the crew is always helping you and having fun.
