Go for the dogs— not the gold panning
John_K, aug. 2023
Sled dogs were fun. Skip the gold panning behind their store. Castle was an excellent tour guide! Beautiful views!

Great tour in Skagway

Bryan made it so special for our family of 10. He was spectacular. The bus was comfortable. The commentary was helpful, and the sled dog ride was a thrill.

Great tour, fantastic views and puppies
Franklin_K, juli 2023
We had a wonderful time. Booked this to do with our 10 year old grandson and it was better than I even suspected. I loved the small group of about 12- it didn't feel like we were in a "herd" of tourists. The scenery was incredible, sights more beautiful at every turn. Our stellar tour guide provided us with history, information on the nature we were seeing and found perfect spots for photos. The musher camp did not disappoint. Fun ride pulled by the dogs and time with the puppies. The staff of Klondike Tours were great and I highly recommend this tour as well as any they operate. I will book with them again if I travel back to Skagway, Alaska

Okay
Amanda_B, juli 2023
Our guide Castle was sweet, knowledgeable, and obviously loved her job. She saved the experience. The gold panning was extremely disappointing: you are given a pre-packed amount of sand and then swirled it in a plate in a back alley water trough. Took all of 5 minutes and it was obvious you weren’t going to be able to get more than a few specks that they gave you a plastic bag for. The sled dog camp was fun; however, the puppies were asleep the whole time which made it a little disappointing after all of the buildup. I think the time at the dog camp should have been shorter as we all were kind of standing around staring at sleeping puppies. Overall, I had a nice time and liked learning from Castle. The reasons I booked the trip. which were gold panning and puppies, did not live up to my expectations.

Adventure Packed Day
Debra_F, juli 2023
What a great day! Bryan was our guide and he was phenomenal. He knew so much about the history, geography, climate and culture of the region. Bryan stopped at sensational spots for great picture taking. We even saw a momma bear and her three cubs, another black bear, and goats in the high hills in our travels. The Michelle Phillips dog sledding camp was great. We enjoyed the ride as much as the dogs did. The pups were adorable. The gold panning was underwhelming but this did not detract from us having a five star adventure. Thank you Bryan for a great day!

LONG Pretty Drive, but overall experience was disappointing.
chrisdorton, juli 2023
Lady driver was knowledgeable and friendly. Sled dog experience was not what I expected. "Gold panning" in the alley behind the tour office is worthless.

Beautiful Yukon and dogs!
Melissa_L, juli 2023
Brian was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide! He stopped many times along the Klondike highway to allow for pictures of the beautiful scenery. The musher dogs were adorable and it was fun hearing about their training. We highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Brian for your hospitality!

Dog sledding was enthralling
Uvaldo_M, juni 2023
Castle made a fantastic tour guide. She offered some of her own knowledge and was very familiar about the region being visited. We got to see a litter of puppies, and the dog sledding was all we had hoped it would be. I really enjoyed the gold panning at the tour's conclusion. If you want to try something different while still learning a lot about Skagway and the surrounding area, I would suggest doing this trip with Castle!

sled dog
Ella_P, sep. 2019
It was different. I was looking for the real sled. still it was fun. The boys was looking for the sled to drive. The bathrooms was a no go We enjoyed the ladie driver.
Awesome!
Lillie_S, sep. 2019
Eric was friendly, funny, and informative throughout the tour. He stopped for beautiful photo ops and took pictures for our family. The sled dogs/puppies were adorable, sweet, and well behaved. Very informative presentation as well. The gold panning was a fun family activity that provided a bit of gold to take home.
Trip to Yukon
mdwendt, sep. 2019
Lack of snow diminished the dog sled run (obviously). The best part was the trip up and back and the incredible scenery. Note, the unidentified ore in the gift shop is peacock ore, copper. Over all, a very good adventure worth the fee.
Lots of puppies
Gail_S, aug. 2019
It was a beautiful day for a drive into the Yukon! We saw a lot of beautiful scenery and were able to stop and take photos several times, unfortunately no wildlife. My grandchildren had a great time. The gold panning was a small disappointment not exactly what we expected and only found a very few flakes of gold.(The last time we were in Alaska and panned for gold everyone was guaranteed flakes equal to stars in the state flag). The children could barely see their gold. Other than the gold panning I would have given 5 stars.
Sled Dog Adventure
Carlton T, aug. 2019
The scenery on the was to and from the adventure was spectacular. That in itself was worth the trip. The sled dog adventure was very informative and a lot of fun. We are extremely happy we chose the excursion.

Such an amazing experience!!
Gabrielle_M, juli 2019
Our tour guide, Jack, picked us up for one of the prettiest drives into the Yukon all the while explaining the history of the Gold Rush and the current history of Skagway and the Yukon. We got to Michelle Phillip’s sled dog training area and cuddled the most adorable puppies and pet some beautiful friendly mamas and retired dogs. We learned about the different gear and all the training that goes into the dogs by Erin and then a team was hitched to an ATV and we were taken on a super fun ride. Erin stopped and took all our cameras and took tons of pictures! We got to spend more time with all the dogs and then Jack took us to an area to pan for gold. We each had about 5 pieces in our pans. We had some time to shop in the little store and then Jack drove us back, stopping at prime locations to let us get out and take pictures of the beautiful scenery. We even got to see a bear running into the woods!! When we arrived back in Skagway, he let us off in town to do some shopping! This was our favorite excursion! Thank you, thank you!

Fun afternoon for kids
mwle2, juli 2019
The pick you up in. Medium sized tour bus. Brief tour of Skagway, then a 20 minute drive to the dog sled adventure where you ride in 4 wheel ATV pulled by a team of Alaskan Huskies. The ATV and dogs run on a dirt path with some small slopes so ATV engine is on and assist the dogs uphill. After the ATV sled ride you pan for gold in a trough on the property. On the way back to Skagway, you have a few more stops. Go to waterfall. Welcome signs for Alaska and Yukon and more photo taking. We saw a Black Bear from the bus and the driver stopped and allowed us to take photos from the bus.. Overall worthwhile trip. My on caveat is if you go on ATV dog sled and stand in back, as not everyone gets a seat, hold the ATV rail (roll bar) tight as the ride is bumpy and a bit hilly.
Family Fun
Mary_P, juli 2019
We enjoyed this trip immensely! Our guide, Jack, was great and entertaining. The kids (ages 11 and 9) loved the dog sledding and panning for gold.

Between the sights, our guides and puppies how can anyone pick a favorite?! I know we can't!
Fantastic Experience
Sally_B, juni 2019
We all loved this tour! Our group consisted of two senior citizens, four adults, one 10yr old and two 4yr olds. The experience appealed to us all. We loved playing with the puppies and seeing the dogs pull our "sled". We were there in the summer so it wasn't really a sled but it was till really cool. We also did a little gold panning, which my 10yr old loved but it was not a big part of the tour. Just a small highlight. The drive was a little bit longer from the docks (we were one a cruise) but they picked us up and dropped us off right in front so that was convenient. Our driver also stopped at various spots along the way so we could take pictures and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Overall it was fantastic and I would highly recommend it for families.

Sled dog advebture
Jay_W, juni 2019
A very unique experience for the family to experience a sled dog ride over a rough terrain. The kids enjoyed the puppies as well as their chance to pan for gold.
Svar från värd, juni 2019
We're thrilled that the kiddos had such a great time. Yukon Dogs and Gold is such a great experience for any age group but watching kids play with puppies is golden.
