Utmärkt turné, men galet dyrt!

Detta var en fantastisk turné. Vår guide. Elina, var väldigt bra. Vi gillade att bli visade hur man använder tågsystemet. MEN efter två tågturer blev det uppenbart hur mycket promenader och tid att använda tåget tog. Det är mycket promenader bara för att komma till rätt avfart och byta linje. Så vi bytte till att ta hytt med mätare för att minska gångansträngningen och tiden så att vi kunde få två stopp till. Vi betalade en galen summa pengar för att guiden skulle vara där, så det var helt enkelt inte vettigt att använda tåget för att spara några dollar. Vi fick ett frågeformulär att fylla i i förväg för att fastställa våra intressen och den föreslagna resplanen var perfekt. Vår 7-åring älskade besöket i Pok mon-butiken jag begärde. Vi fick betala för allt. Inklusive inträde för vår guide till alla attraktioner som vi tyckte var konstiga. Guider går i allmänhet in gratis i stort sett överallt i världen eftersom de uppenbarligen ger ständiga affärer. Jag misstänker att en licens av något slag saknades. Vi är helt sålda på privata turer. Flexibiliteten att röra sig i vår egen takt och val av aktiviteter är ovärderlig. Detta var vårt andra besök i Tokyo, så att gå på anpassningen innebar att vi inte slösade bort tid på att duplicera vad vi hade gjort tidigare, eller att duplicera vart vi skulle åka senare i alla fall. Till exempel, en rundtur som stannade vid Harajuku skulle ha varit ett slöseri eftersom vi åkte dit ändå för uggla- och griscaféerna senare. Du behöver ingen guide för självklara attraktioner som Skytree till exempel, det är svårt att förstöra det på egen hand. Jag tror att vi i framtiden kommer att undvika heldagsvandringar. Det är bara för tröttsamt för oss. Om du är vältränad, gå för det Vi tyckte precis att dagen var vansinnigt dyr för en vandring utan något inkluderat, men det är en observation, inte ett klagomål, eftersom vi visste priset på förhand. Som en jämförelse hade vi en privat förare med en BMW i 11 timmar i Taiwan för nästan halva priset av denna turné under denna semester! Vi var mycket tacksamma för hjälpen Elina gav oss att boka andra aktiviteter för senare och de råd som gavs när jag frågade via e-post senare. Hon gick definitivt utanför omfattningen av turnén för att vara till hjälp.

Our guide Ryuju was amazing. He is local so he knows Japan in and out. His English is fluent and he knows photography so he was kind enough to take some pics for us. Overall, time was spent well, we had a lot of fun. Highly recommend!

We learned so much about the area! I loved it when our guide walked us down a little food alleyway in Shinjuku. It was something we would not have found on our own. And he was so knowledgeable about Japanese history since he had studied it for many years!

Take a private tour first thing upon visiting Tokyo. Do this first and forgo or postpone the group tours.

A day with Shintaro is a day spent with a long-time friend. Before the tour began he suggested common places to visit to tailor the tour to our interests. Instead of visiting the typical tourist areas, we requested to see the city from his perspective as someone who knows it intimately. Great decision. Shintaro guided us down the back streets, where we discussed the similarities and differences between New York and Tokyo and how Tokyo has grown over time. He thoughtfully answered the myriad questions that came to mind and engaged us with his own. We stopped at a busy coffee shop and experienced street-side food. For dinner, Shintaro took us to an off-the-path authentic Tokyo restaurant and ordered the best items on the menu. We talked a bit about music, and he told us about a party he was headed to afterward and invited us to join him. Once the tour ended, we didn't just part ways. Shintaro took us to an underground techno music scene, where he introduced us and showed us around. It was a unique experience that only a local guide with his background can provide. What an incredible day.

Disappointing and little value

There was a logistical snafu to start when the tour operator said the guide could not meet us at the hotel and directed us to a meeting spot that was a 20 minute subway ride away. Then the guide calls saying he is at the hotel so we had to scramble back. Although he was a kind gentleman, our guide was inexperienced and seemed to know very little about Tokyo. Even though we completed the questionnaire they sent, he had no script prepared and suggested the very basic landmarks when we clearly requested an experience that was rich in history, politics, economics and arts. Frankly, we would have done better asking ChatGPT for a guided tour. Overall a disappointment.

Justine was an amazing tour guide! She was so knowledgeable about the area we were in and was able to teach us a ton about not only the history, but also her personal experiences as an immigrant to Japan. We loved her perspective and insight on Tokyo, and even though she didn't share all of our interests (such as games and anime), she still told us some awesome places and shops to check out outside of the tour (which we did, and they were awesome). Ayaka- cultured, experienced tour guide!!

Ayaka was amazing!! We asked for some things that interest my wife and I and she did an amazing job- izakaya shops, ramen stand, small mom and pop souvenir stores, one temple, basashi(raw horse sashimi), and cherry blossoms. We viewed all phases of the cherry blossom experience from empty trees to full bloom all in Shibuya and on one alley they were falling like snow on a wintery day. She even taught us how to use the underground train system. At first its overwhelming but after a few trips it seems relatively easy. Her choice of ramen for lunch was also very warm and great tasting. We had a full 8 hours with her and we walked and walked like never before but it didn't feel like we walked that far but at the end of the night at the hotel....we were so tired but a good kind of tired. My wife and I both agreed that this was money well spent. Ask for Ayaka is our best recommendation we could pass on to anyone wanting a one on one scripted tour of Japan.

I enjoyed the tour very much. My tour guide Veronica was delightful! Upon realizing that this was my very first day in Tokyo she helped me figure out my itinerary and showed me how to access the subway system for which I am very thankful. This private tour was well worth it and I highly recommend it as an introduction to Tokyo. Emir was great! He was knowledgeable, interesting, and thoughtful. Our tour covered so many different parts of the city, I was amazed at the end as to how much we covered. I was fortunate to have have made it to Japan during cherry blossom season, and Emir opened up the tour by making sure he took me to a lovely park where I could enjoy their beauty, and then took me to visit a historic and peaceful shrine. The rest of the trip was filled with a variety of sights and history, and tourist fun spots to visit. Overall Emir did a great job and introduction to Tokyo..
