The tour departs the city at 6.50am with pick ups in the central city between 6.20-6.50am - we ask that you reconfirm your pick up location with us directly (although we will message you through the Viator system not long after the booking is made). Happy Hobbiton leaves you feeling like a child again

Door to door pick up and drop off. Amazing guided tour around Hobbiton with enough time to take it all in and get lots of great photos. Lunch in the Marquee was a great experience also enjoyed a free drink in the Green Dragon pub. Finished off the day with a tour of the Waitomo glowworm caves before driving home. Interesting detailed commentary from the driver. A full long day out that flys by!

This tour was excellent, Alex was a great guide. Answered all of our questions to and from the sites. It's a long day but we loved the Hobbit area as well as the glow worms. Worth it!

We started in Auckland and our bus driver was fantastic. Sharing so much history on the way to Hobbiton , very friendly and knowledgeable. Our small group was great to share this experience with. Hobbiton is a must see. The details are incredible. Absolutely loved it. Continued to the caves and it was so serene and so calming experience. The caves are also a must see and feel. Truly enjoy my experience and do recommend it to any who has any questions if they should or not. Do it , you will not regret it. Truly fantastic

Hobbiton Set and Waitomo Glowworm Cavern Tours not to miss

The Hobbiton Set provides an amazing experience for everyone. Not having read the J.R.Tolkien trilogy and not seeing the movies really doesn’t matter. The countryside is beautiful and the stories told about the set make you want to learn more. Every detail put into the entire set was crucial and well thought through. The tour ended with a high quality luncheon buffet and a special beverage, which is unusual for a tour. The Glow Worm tour was also enjoyable and educational. Finally, we were fortunate to have a wonderful tour guide who was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to have as our guide. We highly recommend Viator for anyone looking for a great experience.

While a long day the Hobbiton and Waitimo tour was worth it. The people I went with had never seen the lord of the ring or hobbit movies and still enjoyed it. The buffet lunch at the the hobbiton tour was really good. Did not expect that. The glow work caves was interesting. The tour guide Kelly was informative and engaging

Damian was kind, knowledgeable and a fantastic guide. He went above and beyond during our trip to Hobbiton. It was well worth it! The systems were out after the Glow worm tour, so we could not get our photos or purchase souvenirs. The tour of Hobbiton was great, lunch was great our guide/driver was superb!!!

Hobbiton was absolutely amazing, all the detail. I kept thinking Frodo would come walking around. Lunch was delicious. The Waitomo glow worm caves defy description , you have to see for yourself. Our guide , Damien, was great.

Great visit outside of Auckland

We only had a short time in Auckland, and wanted to see some of the most discussed places in the area. None of us are big fans of the Lord of the Rings, but the Hobbiton experience was wonderful. The glow worm cave was interesting as well. I would also say our tour guide, Damien, had a wonderful set of stories to make our long drives interesting. All was well worth the day outside of the city.

Highlight of my trip! You literally feel like you’re in the shire, buffet lunch was good quality and Kelly was a great guide, letting us know a lot about Auckland and NZ as well. Such a dream for LOTR fans. Seeing glow worms was super cool too!

Wow, I cannot say enough about this trip. This was run by Bush and Beach we had pick up from our hotel and then we met up and changed vans and our tour guide was Michelle. She was full of information but her voice was soothing and she didn’t mind that we fell asleep in part of the ride. We stopped at a café about an hour and a half into the ride to get something to eat and some coffee The countryside was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful the hills, the sheep, we saw, deer and cows. When we got to Hobbiton, it was beyond what we expected. The people who run habitat are doing a fabulous job afterwards. This tour came with the buffet lunch at Hatton. I was not expecting such a variety and such good food we left for and happy. We took a short ride to the Glowworm caves. Our guide there was Charlie. I didn’t realize we were going down into the limestone caves. I had never been there, but it was so open and spacious. There were stairs that were whelming pain and I felt safe the whole time and did not feel claustrophobic. The glow worms themselves were magical. We are so glad we were able to do this. All in all, I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to New Zealand for the first time. Because of traffic we didn’t get back to our hotel for about 12 hours but I would not change one single thing about it. Bush and Beach are great tour operator.

A Surprisingly Enjoyable Day

Hobbiton exceeded my expectations, I went because my adult daughters wanted to experience it. Surprisingly I throughly enjoyed it! The lunch was fabulous! I had expected a bit more from the glow worm grotto experience than we got, but I’m glad I got to see these unique creatures. Our guide/driver Murray was the best! It was along day but as we only had one full day between arrival in Auckland and departure on our cruise it was a good decision. Small groups are the only way to go. Two thumbs up!

The guide/driver for the day, Michelle, was wonderful. Hobbiton was cute - lots of fun. The glowworm caves were ephemeral - beautiful and mystical. Terrific guides took us around each attraction.

I would highly recommend Bush and Beach to anyone wanting to visit Hobbiton and Waitomo. Comfortable van with plenty of stops along the way. Our guide Damian was entertaining and gave us an overview of New Zealand history on the way. I am not a huge fan of the LOTR movies and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Hobbiton. The boat trip at Waitomo Caves while short was worth the extra time and money to visit, I mean as long as your here why not.
