Overview

Saddle up and head out on the Rocky Mountain trails in Banff National Park. Explore the area by horseback with your cowboy guide to see the area in a way you can only experience from on the back of a horse. With a guide in the lead and a guide bringing up the rear, your ride will be a safe, fun adventure in the wilderness.

All riders must arrive 30 minutes prior to their ride time.
Guests participating in horseback riding will need to be 8 years or over and a maximum of 230lbs. Banff Trail Riders is committed to the health of our horses and the safety of our guests, which means that the minimum age and maximum weight requirements are strictly enforced. As part of the check-in process, guests may be required to confirm their current weight on a scale and provide proof of the child’s age. In the event that these requirements are not met, the booking will be forfeited without a refund.
Please note that children will not be paired with an adult – they must ride their own horse.
Near public transportation
For our foreign visitors we require an understanding of basic English for our horseback rides, so that you can understand simple instructions from our guides.
Children aged 17 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For safety purposes helmets are mandatory to be worn by all riders.
Riders must wear long pants and sturdy closed toed shoes enclosed to the ankle - no open toe shoes or shoes with big heels.
Adults must sign a waiver for all activities, and a waiver must also be completed by the parent or legal guardian of any person under the age of 18 (documentation may be required to confirm the signatory’s authority).
Riders must be physically capable of controlling the horse during the ride without assistance and for the health and safety of all riders we regrettably cannot accommodate any disabilities or special needs riders. We recognize that disabled riding is a unique and respected skill set that we at the barns do not have the appropriate equipment or skills to safely execute.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

This was a beautiful ride! My horse, Possum, was so fun to ride. I felt completely at ease with him and my group. The scenery was gorgeous and we even saw a bear (from a safe distance)! It was wonderful. Highly recommend for all skill levels.

Another Side Of Banff

The staff is particularly good with people that have never been on a horse before. Both of us ride and are used to horses, but it was still a good ride for us because we got to see a side of Banff that you can’t see by hiking, biking or by tour bus - and that’s why we did it. I ride at a barn where cleanliness and maintenance of the horses is the main concern. There are a lot of horses at this stable and the horses and tack were well maintained, as well as the grounds being clean. Great job guys!

It was so much fun! The time was just right. 2 hours of riding through the woods up and down a hill along the river! It was absolutely stunning! I got educated a lot on this trip as well and learned some about the mountains, the Cave and the river! Absolutely recommend!!

Great day in Banff

This was quiet lovely. We did the 2 hour ride and if was just the perfect length. Horses are hilarious and all have their own character but they listened well to commands. Each horse was chosen based on the riders own weight as to be mindful to the horses stature - which was nice to see. They have hand sani and clean washrooms for hand washing which was greatly appreciated. We all wore masks until we were sitting on the horses and distanced. Def coming back here. Was a wonderful experience 😊

Lack of hospitality/flexibility

Didn't appreciate the lack of information on the 2 1/2 hour drive from Calgary (should be 90 min) or the 1/2 hour fight through Banff to arrive late and lose our ride due to the lack of flexibility at the ranch. Last bucks that ever get spent in Banff.

Für uns war der Ausritt ein tolles Erlebnis! Auch als blutiger Anfänger muss man sich hier keine Sorgen machen, das Tier oder sich selbst zu verletzen. Die Pferde gingen brav hintereinander und die Gruppe wurde vorne und hinten von Mitarbeitern "angeführt". Langweilig war es sicher nicht, es gab immer wieder was zu sehen. Die Leute dort waren sehr freundlich, den Tieren geht es gut. Top

L’accueil, le manque de convivialité, les consignes de sécurité sont données , mais ensuite aucune communication à part quelques infos touristiques récitées. Les chevaux d’école sont bien dressés et adorables ! Rapport qualité prix excessif.
