What To Expect

After either being collected from your hotel or meeting your guide and group at the meeting point near the National Stadium, you’ll set off to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya in air-conditioned comfort.

You’ll start your tour of the former Thai capital at Bang Pa-In Palace, a 17th-century former summer retreat for Thai royals that’s surrounded by ponds and waterways.

Then, you’ll delve deeper into the rich history of temples such as Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, before admiring on of Thailand’s largest bronze Buddha statues at the 600-year-old Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit.

Finally, you’ll return to your original meeting point in Bangkok.

A busy agenda (maybe not on a really hot day)

Unfortunately, we did this tour on an incredible hot day and the agenda is just very busy for this. The first stop, Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, was not really worth it for us, plus we only had 40 minutes, so we just rushed through it, took a picture and that's it. The temples in Ayyuthaya are amazing though we could only spend there around 45 minutes and you barely find any shadow. We personally did not enjoy the lunch, it was quite expensive for the quality of the food and you have no other option for lunch. Food had to be chosen in the morning directly when the tour started. Our guide Coconut was ok, we had some issues understanding her as her English was not the best, she was rushing us quite a lot even in the hot weather and was mainly there to take pictures of us and only gave a few information. We did a different tour a few days before where we were very impressed by our tour guide and received much more information, probably that is the reason we felt it was not enough. If you are out for much more information, I would recommend to book a private tour, this would be our go to next time to have more time and get more information.

Sun was a great tour guide. It was about 41C with high humidity but she had great energy. Because it was so hot she let us chose our time at each place, and left early if we were all done. The restaurant was also delicious. However, becareful what option you choose. I didn't realize that there was an option where the ticket price wasn't included. We were able to pay for admission once on the tour though. Highly recommend! We saw the museum, and 4 temples. A great day, everyone had fun and we never felt rushed. Thank you Sun!

We had a fabulous trip. The van was lovely & cool, the weather was extremely hot. Both the driver & guide were wonderfully accommodating. Our guide Niranya was so lovely & friendly. Her knowledge & information that she imparted was outstanding. I would highly recommend going on the trip & if are lucky enough to have Niranya as your guide your trip will be a memorable one.

We had Sun as our tour guide for Ayutthaya this trip. Day before I received friendly reminder via WhatsApp with appropriate dress code for palace. April's weather is over 100F, Sun always look out for us and provide history under the shades. She has a great sense of humor, cater to our group needs and we really enjoy our trip with her.

If you have too much time on bangkok, yes sure you can join this tour. But for I wish I didn’t attend cause it was too hot and the ruins were the same exactly on every spot. Nothing special. Our tour guide was really kind person and he has a lot to say about thai culture and history. He was the highlight about the tour. But we has a terrible driver. Even I worn him about driving carefully, he wasn’t paying attention at all. And the van must be improved for sure.

Unclear why this is advertised as an 11 hour trip as we departed Bangkok just after 8 and were back by 4.30. Guide was clearly not interested in her job, dropped us off at the locations and told us to meet back at a set time, very little information offered, the trip was more of a driver service rather than a guided tour. It was an incredibly hot day and the tour had stated that water was included however we were not offered or provided with any water until we got on the bus to head back to Bangkok at around 3pm. This was in stark contrast to a tour we had done the day before where the guide was so attentive and offered us water throughout the day while encouraging us to stay hydrated due to the heat. Overall a bit of a let down and really not worth it- could have been a different experience with a guide who did their job.
Excellent Tour of Ayutthaya Palace and Temples

We only had two days to experience Bangkok. Our first day was a tour from the cruise ship to see the Royal Palace and temples. For the second day, we booked this tour for a wonderful trip to Ayutthaya. Our guide, Jack, was excellent. He took us to the summer palace and then to four temples. Afterward he took us to a local restaurant on the river that served up a delicious lunch. Overall it was a very fun, full day. We highly recommend this tour.

Great guide, great trip, but no pick-up

All in all great tour, really worth a trip from Bangkok, as the ride is not long and you get to learn a bit about history of Thailand. There was enough time to enjoy every temple, and you could learn a lot from the guide. Our guide Sun, was really friendly and funny, she actually made this experience worth the money. On the contrary, I have to say that communication with organization team of Trip Guru is not smooth at all. Links in messges not working, hard to organize a pick-up point (you might not be picked-up even though you marked the hotel in pick-up zone), etc. We almost cancelled the trip because of that.

Good trip but took some time in the morning to pick people up who were joining the tour. Bell was a good guide but they should have brought more water than just one bottle since it was extremely hot and humid.

I do not recommend this tour. I arrived to the stadium at 8h and i could not find the meeting point because it was upstairs, i arrived at 8:08 and the guide did not wait for me. I could not do the excursion, please i am asking to have the refund back.

Angie was a lovely guide. Met us on time and was very friendly and engaging. Be aware that you will be out in the (extremely hot) sun during the middle of the day with limited access to shade and you must dress respectfully when visiting these sites. Thankfully most of the temples offer complimentary umbrellas, which you should definitely take advantage of! Also, the restaurant that you stop at for lunch (price not included in tour) is very expensive, so plan accordingly.

Terrible tour operator. Avoid Tripguru

We paid additional money for hotel pickup and drop off. But the tour operator, TripGuru, didn't want to pick us up or drop us off. I sent them several emails with the booking information that clearly showed our hotel as the pickup point. They kept replying back with standard emails asking us to come to the meeting point. We missed our breakfast and had to spend several hundred baht to get to the pickup location with considerable amount of anxiety. This made the whole trip unenjoyable. Viator needs to blacklist this operator. Otherwise, we will never use Viator again.
