Overview

See a side of Bangkok that most travelers don’t get to see as you cruise along the city’s canal ways. Set sail along the klong (canals) of the Chao Phraya River in a traditional longtail boat and enjoy a glimpse of local life in the Thonburi district of Bangkok. What To Expect

Get a glimpse of local life in Bangkok on this guided tour of the Thonburi district’s canals by traditional longtail boat. Lasting around 2 hours, and with your choice of departure times throughout the day, it’s easy to fit in your schedule.

Meet your licensed English speaking guide near Wat Pho and walk together as a group to board your longtail boat. Soak up the sights and scenes of local life as you cruise along the canals.

At Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House), you’ll have enough time to walk around the historic and restored wooden house and learn more about Thai culture. The boat tour also passes by the Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, with a stop to take photos of the temple’s massive Buddha statue.

The tour ends back at the departure point.

Our Bangkok canal tour operates rain or shine.
Bangkok's traffic is notorious. Since our tours are on a group basis, we would like to emphasize that you should arrive at the meeting point on time. If you cannot make it in time, please inform us before start of the tour. If possible, we will always do our best to reschedule you to the first available day/start time, but a change fee will apply.
The guide can only wait for a MAXIMUM of 10 minutes after the set meeting time. After the 10 minutes grace period, the guide will start with the tour.
Not recommended for travelers with mobility issues since it might be too hard to get in and out the boat (there are no stairs at the piers).
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 300 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

A great tour to fill in the time

The guide was great, this tour also took us to a monk temple with an enormous golden Buddha, I also glad that we booked the early morning tour due to the extreme heat. Top marks for the guide in looking after us.

Booking staff were very accommodating after we were late and missed the pick-up time due to traffic. They rebooked us onto a later and kept in contact with us. When we arrived for the tour we were greeted which was lovely. Our group size was really good- wasn't too big that it was held up on the stops. Our guide made sure to point out things along the river we didn't see and took some nice photos of us. Highly recommend to get a relaxed view of the other side of bangkok away from the city. I loved that it was a shaded long boat too as we were at 1230pm so the sun would've made it scorching otherwise. Recommend bringing sunscreen though.

Very nice tour. It started right on time, our guide was very knowledgeable explaining to us about the monks and temples history, and the boat ride was very fun, I recommend it.

Don’t be 14 mins late

14 mins late due to very bad traffic and waited 45 mins to get a taxi. Communicated 30 mins prior was told can wait 10 mins. Was 4 mins after that and said sorry can’t wait. Offered to reschedule us but required a surcharge of 400 tbh per person more. Asked refund since we didn’t get to take part of tour and they declined.

Dear Josh, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us though. When you made the reservation on 23 March for the tour on 22 April, we immediately sent you the confirmation. In the confirmation the following is clearly mentioned: "Since it is a join tour we have to start on time. The guide can only wait for a maximum of 10 minutes after the set meeting time, so please be in time." This is also clearly mentioned on the Viator tour page where you made your booking on 23 March. So that we only communicated this to you 30 minutes prior to the tour is not true. Furthermore, on the Viator tour page the following is mentioned: "Bangkok's traffic is notorious. Since our tours are on a group basis, we would like to emphasize that you should arrive at the meeting point on time. If you cannot make it in time, please inform us before start of the tour. If possible, we will always do our best to reschedule you to the first available day/start time, but a change fee will apply." It is a group tour and all the other participants were at the meeting point before the start time of 9:30 AM. I hope you understand it would not be fair to keep them waiting longer than the 10 minutes grace period. On the day of the tour at 9:41 AM our staff sent you the following message: "We offer you to join 12:30 hrs today, there is a surcharge 200thb per person." So it is also not true that we offered you to reschedule for THB 400 per person. For no-show we do not grant refund, since we blocked your places on the boat already and thus were unable to sell them to other guests. Instead of having to make a whole new booking, we offered you to reschedule for only a minor change fee. Wishing you a pleasant stay in Thailand. Best regards, Dave

Excellent trip with a great guide (Joyc). Very informative and attentive at all times. The 2 hour trip is just right in length and allows you to fit it in around other activities. The meet point is a great local cafe (Elgin Coffee shop) and a very short way to the boat jetty.

Elena was a wonderful guide, and the trip in the long tail boat was a lot of fun. The canals show a side of Bangkok you wouldn't necessarily get to see if you just stick to downtown and the main temples. Elena provided a lot of information about life on the canals for Thai people and even spotted a monitor lizard and stopped the boat so we could get photos. Seeing the big buddha statue was great and the visit to the market was interesting - we went during the week so it wasn't crowded, I suspect it would have been much busier on the weekend. I recommend this trip - if you are in Bangkok in the hot season like we were, then going in the afternoon is nice as it is a bit cooler out on the water which we definitely appreciated!
