What To Expect
Immerse yourself in the final moments of World War II as you relive the gripping battles and heroic struggles that took place in Berlin to end the multiyear reign of terror of the Third Reich. History lovers are sure to enjoy this deep dive into the personalities and places that defined the final fight to end the Nazi regime.
Meet your guide outside Friedrichstrasse train station, on the square beside the 'Traenenpalast' (Palace of Tears), continuing on an exploration of a series of key locations from the years of the Third Reich and the final Battle of Berlin in 1945. Visit the headquarters of the Luftwaffe, Germany’s feared air force, which coordinated the Battle of Britain, and check out the Ministry of Propaganda, where Joseph Goebbels composed many of his most infamous speeches.
Retrace the route of the final Soviet assault on the city, eventually reaching the Reichstag. Then visit the Soviet War Memorial, where many of the army’s soldiers are buried. You’ll also stop at the home of Hitler’s New Reich Chancellery, the headquarters of the Nazi government, and view the location of Hitler’s former bunker, along with his last days and suicide there in April 1945.
As you walk, you’ll also hear about the resistance movement that opposed Nazi rule, including the group’s leaders, Henning von Tresckow, Hans Oster and Clause von Stauffenberg. This will offer a convenient opportunity for your guide to share insights into daily life for citizens under the Nazis, and talk about the group’s dramatic rise to power. This includes details of Hitler’s Lebensraum policy, a doctrine which contributed to the Holocaust, and created the militaristic philosophy that led to the war.

Despite the threat of rain, we had a great tour. Went to several of the main historical points— reichstag, Jewish Memorial, parking lot where Hitler’s bunker was, Wilheimstrasse and Topography of Terror. The last has a fantastic display of rise of Nazism and serves as a clear warning how easily a democracy is lost,

Hannah was a fantastic guide, giving us historical context of the rise and fall of Hitler. There were many tidbits of information and hidden in plain sight monuments that I found interesting. I highly recommend this tour!

This was the best time we had in our time in Berlin. We arrived to the meeting place to meet a smiling and engaging Xavier. Turns out this ended up being a private tour as others did not show up. Xavier was the most prepared and knowledgeable tour guide I have ever had, he was engaging, witty and an absolute pleasure to spend an afternoon with. He answered every question thoughtfully and thoroughly and I cannot recommend this tour or Xavier enough.
