What To Expect

Your adventure starts with pickup from your Waikoloa hotel via air-conditioned coach. You and your group will first explore Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, where your guide will start your 101 on Hawaii’s volcanic past and present. From there, you’ll stop by a Kona coffee farm, where you’ll meet the staff for a tour and tasting.

After riding through historic Hilo, you’ll arrive at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Your guide’s geological knowledge comes in handy here as you explore Chain of Craters Road, from steaming craters all the way to the jet-black coast. You’ll make a stop for lunch, which is provided—as are snacks throughout the day.

Lastly, you’ll get the chance to witness Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot cascade, and Saddle Road, one of the island’s most beloved. You’ll see lava flows old and young, cinder cones, and more, before being dropped back off at your hotel in Waikoloa.

The tour was fantastic and so was Eric, our guide from Geo tours. He’s a geologist so you learn lots of interesting facts about the wonderful places we visited…the Hawaiian Coffee Farm, the black sand beach where we saw sea turtles, then it was on to Volcano National Park. The tour includes a delicious hot meal at a great restaurant before exploring the Park! The active volcano and the lava tube were amazing! We ended with seeing a beautiful waterfall in Hilo. They also supplied snacks & non alcoholic drinks throughout the day! Would definitely do again-was lots of fun! Bruce & Sally from Wi

Very informative and fun. David Human - our tour guide - was exceptional. Apart from being very professional and courteous, he knew the Big Island very well and took us to spots that were 'unthinkably brilliant'. Very punctual - picked us up from the hotel on the dot of time and dropped us off at the hotel. David was very sensitive of the diverse needs of all the tour participants. Overall, a day with David on this tour has been fantastic. I encourage everyone who is visiting Big Islands to try this guided tour. You will not be disappointed.

One of the best tours I have ever taken. Our guide, Dave, was awesome. Extremely professional and knowledgeable across many subjects. We saw so many different things on the tour and Dave’s narration really added to experience. Would recommend as a must do. Be prepared for a long but worthwhile full day.

It's hard to pick the most memorable part of our tour because it was a day filled with extraordinary sites and experiences. Overall, it was our Tour Guide Dave who really made our 11 hours especially fun and informative. Dave really knows the island, the history, the people, the sites, etc. We feel so lucky that Dave was our guide that day. We truly will never forget the tour or him!

We loved the ENTIRE tour. The national park, lava tube, scenic overlooks, coffee farm, waterfalls, and chocolate stop were extraordinary, as was David! We love a tour with an expert rather than a generic tour guide. We went to Big Island to see the natural wonders with a special wish to explore Volcanoes National Park. We chose Geo tours and our guide was the Geologist Zane. He was brilliant. Not only knowledgeable , so enthusiastic and he made the day. We saw so much and saw the lava which was a real thrill.
