Overview

There are few places in all of Hawaii more historic than Kealakekua Bay, as it's the spot where Captain Cook was killed in a skirmish with native Hawaiians, and the Hawaiian monarch, King Kamehameha III was born just a few miles away. The history aside, it's also one of the best places to snorkel on the Big Island of Hawaii, and you'll have the chance to experience the beauty on this snorkeling tour from Kona. After turning into the harbor, TAKE the very first road to the RIGHT. Follow the road, pass Gentry's Kona Marine and a small gas station -Sea Store and Deli on the left, then TURN LEFT. As you drive in, you will see a small brown roof building to the right (restrooms). Meet crew under the pavilion.

What To Expect

Your adventure begins by meeting your crew at the harbor in Kona. To save you the hassle of bringing lots of equipment with you; snorkeling gear, a floatation device, and lunch are all provided.

After getting on the boat, the trip begins with a ride into Kealakekua Bay. During your ride, you can learn all about Captain Cook, and the area’s link to Hawaiian royalty.

After getting to a great snorkeling spot—with an expert crew to take you to a place where marine life has been spotted before—you can hop off and go snorkeling. Look out for dolphins, coral reefs, and colorful fish along the way—and maybe even Humpback whales if it’s wintertime.

Then, round off your adventures with a delicious on-board lunch before a scenic journey back along the volcanic coast to the harbor.

The crew was really attentive and helpful. Everything was very organized. We saw dolphin and turtles while on the boat to the snorkel site. The snorkeling was outstanding. After we snorkelled for about an hour the crew served a nice lunch of sandwiches and fruit, then put out a water slide and a jumping platform. Stopped at several scenic sites on the way back. Highly recommend this trip.

The staff were excellent and looked after every detail. They provided lots of drinks, snacks and a nice lunch. They took the time to stop to point out sea creatures, and provided some history and geography. My wife and I loved every part. Thanks.

A must do tour with Aiden and Kiami. We were greeted with enthusiasm and led to the boat. Once we were on our way Aiden gave us all the info on how long it would take to get there and the time to snorkel and everything we needed to know. While he’s talking, Kiami is handing out drinks and snacks. Amazing!! The ride there was amazing. Beautiful. Smooth. Soothing. Amazing music is playing and it’s a total vibe! We get there, we are handed our gear and we have about an hour and a half to snorkel. Plenty of time. Beautiful water. Lots of fish. Amazing. Returning to the ship we have lunch ready for us. The sandwiches and chips and snacks and pineapple await. Plenty to eat and drink. The history of some points as we ride back. A few picture spots and then we spot dolphins. Then we spot a whale and a baby whale. Fabulous!! Unexpected. We get back refreshed, excited and eager to tell our story. Terrific day!!

Amazing snorkeling tour and relaxing boat ride!

We had a wonderful experience with Aiden and Kiwami! They were friendly, attentive to the group, funny, and knowledgeable about the island and landmarks. Snorkeling spot was beautiful, we even got to see dolphins multiple times during the boat ride and at the snorkeling spot. Lunch, drinks, and snacks were provided. They also gave us a recommendation to see turtles at a nearby beach after the tour. Highly recommend!

The snorkeling was one of best we have experienced. I took all my kids and they loved it. The youngest age 4 wanted nothing to do with the water, but Aiden Kiami were amazing and watched her on the boat while we snorkeled. They taught her all about the boat and “let her drive”. Towards the end they let the kids jump off the boat before we had to leave the bay and that was a blast as well. Aiden was super funny and Kaimi was very attentive. Thanks for the memorable trip!

Excellent crew that were so attentive and informative. We saw so many dolphins on the way out. Snorkeling was incredible. They had a platform to jump off and a slide when we were done snorkeling. Lunch was delicious sandwiches. Turkey, ham or roast beef on croissants and pineapple. Plenty of snacks and drinks. Then we saw another round of dolphins as we were getting ready to head back. Everyone had a great time. Totally recommend. We had a large group of 9 with our adult kids and 2 small grandchildren.

Absolutely one of the best experiences we have ever done! The crew was amazing! Very knowledgeable, helpful and caring. You always felt safe and secure, and it was truly a must do! When else can you see mantas within inches of you!?! Refreshments were served, cocktails are available, a wetsuit top was provided, if you chill easy, you might want to bring full wetsuit! But soooooooo worth the cold!! I kind of hate to leave a positive review because I loved it and want to do it again without 5000 other people there!

Great staff, easy check in, fantastic snorkeling and dolphin viewing! Crew was so funny and friendly. Boat is big enough to have have a restroom and warm rinse-off shower. Good for adults and older kids who are good swimmers, but did not have kid life jackets for swimming or kick boards as alternate to masks. There are inflatable type swimming vests if needed, but mostly just swimming w pool noodles worked fine.

I love how they fit you with the snorkeling equipment as you enter the boat. There are snacks and water with a restroom as you enter on the boat. The boat ride was very informative at different photo spots along the way. Snorkeling was fun. They had noodles or floating devices available that helped snorkeling be more enjoyable. Lunch sandwiches, drinks and pineapple were delicious. There was a slide and jumping platform, too. A lot of fun and well worth the price!

Simon and the crew were so awesome! The tour was well organized, the snacks and lunch was yummy and the music was great. The snorkeling was super (even for a non confident swimmer like me). We also saw spinner dolphins towards the end. On the way back we made some pit stops and learned a bit more about some of the areas close to the spot we snorkeled. Can’t recommend this experience enough for those trying to spend a day out by the water!
