Not a good experience

We waited almost an hour for the first bus of the day. The tour itself had minimal commentary. Most of the stops were in the hotel/apartment/retail zone. Cartagena just isn't laid out for an informative bus tour. Better to just do a walking tour in the old city (where buses can't go) and take an Uber to San Felipe Castle if you want to go there. Definitely our worst hop on, hop of your among the people in our group.

Worth It

Always like getting an overview of a city via a tour bus. Only downside to this was it was fairly short. I would have liked to see more of the city. Definitely worth the time and money…

Very easy. Buses are typically late. Easiest to buy ticket on bus. I would purchase again. Wish there was a published map online that I could’ve found before hand with time schedules

The hop-on hop-off sold by the cruise line cost $20 more. But the buses came to the ship. We had to walk thru the port to a gas station, check in, and then wait for a small bus to take us to the real bus. The real bus was ok - we saw a lot but because of the lost time , we couldn’t get off. Then the return to the ship was the same - get on a small bus and ride to the port. A pain.

Breach of contract Dont buy from viator

Do not buy! We went to one of the stops, #3 to get on the bus for the first time. ( they told us catch the bus at any stop. Waited 1 hour past the time it was supposed to be there and it never showed up. We hired a taxi to take us back to our cruise ship and Viator will not give us our money back. When we got back to the ship we talked to other people that went on it and they said they didnt stop at #3 anymore. THEY DIDN'T TELL US. We spent additional money on a taxi and wasted almost 2 hrs of our port time. Still no refund!!! Viator, I am dissatisfied with your service.

Guides were super nice & was able to see great overview of city attractions. Bus was covered to block sun which was a positive. Would suggest to get a feel for city or easier transport between walled city & Bocagrande

Very disappointing. The English commentary wasn't working and the girl who took our tickets did nothing to help. We got off after less than half our journey as there was no point in remaining on and I will be requesting a full refund

Tour was not clear as to the stops and added cost of tours. At one point we were told to leave the bus because another group was coming on that had special bracelets. The shuttle would be back in 2 1/2 hours. We ended up taking a taxi back to the cruise ship.

Excellent Experience and Value

I will be honest, coming into this tour we were a little nervous about the very mixed reviews but overall we were extremely happy with our tour and with the operator. For reference we are a family of four with 5 and 7 year old children. We speak Spanish fluently but I don’t think that was a must have. Because we were unsure at first I did a little extra research and I think that really helped. The following is our experience: First, we took our time at the port nature exhibit. We weren’t sure how to find the shuttle to the bus so we paid $6 for an Uber to the San Felipe de Barajas Fort. After exploring the Fort we found the sign near the street corner for the bus. Currently the bus runs every 30-35 minutes. When we got on they scanned our ticket and gave us our maps and headphones. The bus DID have a canopy on the top so we were in the shade the entire time. All the headphone jacks that we tried also worked correctly. The bus was clean and everyone associated with the tour was extremely nice and helpful. After we did the full loop we went into the old city and walked around before going back to the convention center. There was a shuttle leaving for the port in 30 minutes (we just missed the one prior) so they helped get us a $5 taxi back to the port. It was an excellent value and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it or do it again if we find ourselves back in Cartagena.

We always try to take this busses since you can learn about the city a lot. But this was terrible. No ac on any of the busses and really most of the time was just music on the earphones. I wouldn't recommend it.

It was difficult to find the bus. Had to ask lots of people where to go and at the same time fend off annoying vendors wanting us to go with them. We were not in port as long as was expected and traffic was so heavy that we decided to just go back to Port instead of getting off of the bus. Bad experience.

Not close to cruise ports

Arrived on a cruise and the bus route was no where near the ports - would need a cab to get to the bus, which defeats the purpose of exploring the city.

Ok tour, but cruise passengers beware of scammers at the port gates

Bus tour was OK, but not as memorable as other cities. Beware of coming of the cruise ships as ‘scammers’ in hop on hop off bus tops will try and lure you into a taxi for c$30 to drop you off at a bus station on route claiming this is what you need to do. When in fact the hop-on-hop of bus operates a shuttle… but do not seem to have enough presence in and around the cruise port to stop customers getting scammed.

The friendly bus associates were the only good part of the tour. Ear buds didn’t work very well. 35 minutes pick up or stops were 1 hour or more long.

Getting from the ship to the bus is dangerous.

Getting from the ship to the bus is a very, very long way. You have to cross through a very dangerous, very busy intersection to get to the texaco station. Waiting there aren't chairs and they make you sit or stand outside. Due to high traffic the bus never showed up and they had to put us on an air-conditioned bus. They offered to let us sit in an air conditioned car for $5.00. If we had known since my wife has a heart condition we would have never booked this.
