This was a superb balance of storytelling (of authentic history) and libations! Capt'n Bryan was easy going, interesting and LOVED questions (which we ALL had)! The sights that you'll see are off the beaten path, but right under your noses...things that you may never notice unless pointed out. Just a super fun and knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor and outlook. Highly recommend-you won't be disappointed!

Capt Bryan did an excellent job on the tour. He was very personable, knowledgeable, funny, and took his time at each spot. I’ve been in downtown Charleston many times and never knew there was so much more to see and learn. Highly recommend this tour if you’re looking to learn some history and have fun at a couple of bar spots.

This was one of the best parts of our trip to Charleston! Captain Bryan was fun and engaging, as well as super knowledgeable about the history of the city and bars we visited. He is an amazing storyteller and made the history come to life, and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience on the tour and our trip to Charleston. Absolutely cannot recommend this enough to anyone who is interested in getting to see the city through the eyes of someone who obviously loves Charleston so much! Would have done it twice if we could, and talked about it for the rest of the trip!!

Thanks for the great time we had on Saturday and the fun going back and forth we had with the whole group over some college football! I’m glad y’all got me on a tour before my team lost that evening :(. For future guests reading this please check out the tour details! This History and Hops tour includes two historic bar locations with the opportunity to purchase a beverage where we will spend some time discussing drinking history in the colonial era or prohibition era and also visit several (5-6) historic sites/ structures in between the two bar stops. The average time at each historic stop is 7.5 minutes. This allows us to convey the full depth and appreciation for each site and why we as historians chose to include them on our route. We specifically designed this experience so as not to be a superficial view of Charleston where we pass by a ton of different sites with little substance at each. Sadly that would not be memorable for most guests. So if you want a lot of stops with little substance at each one please book a different tour. If you want a unique experience with some historically accurate stories of Charleston’s past focused on a few purposefully chosen sites with some drinking opportunities as part of the tour then this will be the experience for you! We would love to have you join our locally owned tour business for a great and memorable experience. And don’t hesitate to reach out to us if any questions about the tour we are happy to help!
