What To Expect

Make your way to a central location in downtown Cozumel at 10:30am, and meet your guide for a Cozumel walking tour with a local perspective. Start by taking in the key sites around the waterfront and downtown, from the Monument of Two Cultures to the Mestizaje Monument that celebrates Cozumel's mixed cultural heritage.

Throughout the tour, take advantage of your time with a local guide to ask any questions about the history of Cozumel, local culture, and the things you see along the way. You’ll learn about tequila history and taste some samples of Mexico’s most iconic spirit, then head to the Island Museum to see exhibits covering history, ecology, and culture.

Walk to the main plaza in downtown Cozumel, where you'll find the Mexican flag monument, the Cozumel Clock Tower, and the island’s first City Hall, and wrap up the tour at Joe’s Reggae Bar, relaxing over a Cozumel-style lunch and refreshments.

The best part of this tour was our guide, Gerry. Thanks to him we saw the island thru the eyes of a local. Not only the tourist areas but some hidden gems as well. I highly recommend taking this tour! Thanks!

Eric was a good guide with a passion for Cozumel history. Really enjoyed seeing the various monuments and the meanings behind them. The Cozumel museum of history was quite interesting. They tequila tour that was inserted in the middle sort of came out of nowhere. We were the only 2 people on the tour and got a hard sell to buy tequila. Lunch at a local authentic Cozumel restaurant was great.

We got a lot of history of the Mayans and Cozumel before the tourism boom. We went on a tequila tasting tour the tequila was fantastic. It's the smoothest tequila you will ever have. We ended the tour with lunch at a local restaurant in a residential area, away from the touristy main strip. The tour is at a leisurely pace and went over the allotted 2 hours.

First excursion of three that we booked on Viator this particular tour is new to Jeepriders. Eric was our guide, he was on time and very courteous throughout the tour. While walking he pointed out monuments, fountains and buildings and would further explain the history associated with each of these monuments, fountains and buildings had to the island. Part of the tour was a Tequila tasting, a Museum which has artifacts and paintings of the island and to conclude the tour we had lunch at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Thank you to Eric and Jeepriders for a greater understanding of the history of Cozumel.
