The self guided portion of the tour was great, but the tour guide, while very knowledgeable and passionate about Fort Lauderdale's history, rambled on endlessly. He could use a script from which to read.

Wonderful history in a beautiful setting. The museum self tour was awesome. The shippy house and school house were a miss. We had an hour to do the last two and at an hour we’re still sitting listening to a lecture which started way before the Florida history! We never got to tour and was only up to like 1850! It was disappointing

Tour guide all over the place. Wanted to know about history of Ivy Cromartie Stanahan not history of railroad from California and indentured people. Never got to see the school house even though we started at 1230. Left at 145 to go to Stranahan House which was great….

An extensive history lesson.

We started our tour with a very informed docent, who proceeded to give a 55 minute history lecture in an unventilated room in the historic house. The windows were not open nor was there any air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable. I would suggest in the future that either the lecture is shortened, or the tour is moved to another part of the house where there is air conditioning. Aside from the uncomfortable start, it was an informative and interesting tour the house, reconstructed school, and hotel.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to bring the history of Ft Lauderdale to life. There really was a General Lauderdale for which the city was named. There also is an area where there are working artists presenting there works.
