Viator and Ferdy -- the best way to see Jakarta

Jakarta is a very busy place and arranging for a Viator private tour was the right way for us to see it. Our driver and guide Ferdy knew where to go and how to best get there. He was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable and added many interesting insights into the things we saw. He met us at the cruise ship terminal just as planned via our What's App messages. His charismatic personality made our day most enjoyable. We would highly recommend Ferdy and this Viator private tour as a way to see way more and learn way more than you possibly could on your own. Wonderful personal, tour experience

This was one of the only tours running on a Sunday and I’m so glad I booked it! My guide was Fitri and she was absolutely wonderful- in addition to seeing the sites I learned a lot about daily life, the culture and the history here in Jakarta. The highlight by far (and to my surprise) was the puppet show though I also enjoyed seeing Chinatown, the old town and trying the traditional, local dishes. The hotel pickup and drop off was very convenient and I immediately recommended this tour to a colleague. 5 stars!

Dedi was amazing, he walked with us everywhere taking pictures and offering an amazing lunch as well. Do not skip the museum in old town.. beautiful and clean city, Had a blast and even played soccer with some kids at Obama’s school. Our guide was wonderful. Very attentive and explained things well. The sites were nice and lunch was excellent. The harbor boat trip needs to be removed. Very treacherous loading and unloading and it didn't add anything to the tour.

The tour started from cruise, I prefer to choose by private tour. I learned so much about the history, culture of Jakarta as central business. The tour guide was knowledgeable and so informative! I visited The school of Obama was, historic sites as well Continued to big mosque and Church then wet Chinese market, tuk tuk was amazing crazy rode. That market adorable with ceremonial next week. I would not hesitate to book to Ferdy in assist. Good car and ask for food recomendation.

Fantastic day tour of Jakarta

Really enjoyed our day tour of Jakarta. We got to see all the city highlights including the National Monument, Old Town, China Town, the Harbour and a cool puppet shop. We even got to ride a Toktok and wooden boat! The history and significance of all places were thoroughly explained and the tour guide and driver were very friendly and easy to communicate with. We made some good memories that day. Highly recommend this tour!! 👍👍

Really excellent experience. In only a few hours you can have a complete tour of the main attractions of Jakarta with no effort. The guide is very Kind and has a deep knowledge of the local history and speaks a fluent English. Also the driver is great and can move easily in the traffic. Higly reccomended!

The old town Batavia was very atmospheric, also the visit to the port and harbour trip on a small boat was great. My guide Fritzi was excellent, very knowledgeable and paced the tour to my interests. My driver Ferdy also excellent reliable and safe driver. The long drive back in the traffic to my hotel made it a long afternoon but that is just how it is in Jakarta.

Best Tour to see Everything!!! Thanks Ferdy!

We arrived in Jakarta via a Viking cruise ship. We knew we didn’t want to tour with a slow bus load of passengers to often do “drive-by” site seeing. No one except the locals are crazy enough to drive here! Ferdy picked us up on time at the cruise port. We drove into the second largest City in the world with our first stop at Istiqlal Mosque. We weren’t dressed appropriately to enter, but Ferdy secured lovely robes for us. This mosque can accommodate 200,000 worshipers with its five levels and outdoor courtyards. It is impressive in both its size, architecture and symbolism. Afterwards we crossed the street to briefly enter the twin spired Jakarta Cathedral. Our driver (with AC!) waited to pick us up to travel on to Independence Square to see the National Monument—a 450’ obelisk with a gold flame on top. Next was a comprehensive tour in Chinatown! The Vihara Dharma Bakti pagoda temple was started in 1650. Ferdy explained the significance of the various candlelit alters. But what was a truly amazing experience for my husband (with Ferdy’s coaching!) was shaking out a single numbered stick from many in a vessel that would then matchup to his fortune. Ferdy then translated the Chinese fortune found in numbered drawers in a temple cabinet. So unique! We walked thru alleys of Chinatown vendors that sold everything under the sun. A Tuk Tuk ride took us to Dutch Colonial Old Town. We met Aldy the shadow puppetry maker. Lunch is included in the tour, but we opted to instead dine on our own at the famous Cafe Bavaria. After refreshments Ferdy showed us the highlights of the Museum in the former Bank of Indonesia. We then drove to the old harbor for a short boat ride. No yachts here, just a look into life of fishermen and families living on boats! Ferdy’s English is excellent. We were never rushed. He answered our many questions and took photos of us or allowed time for us to take photos. We thought this was an excellent in-depth day tour and highly recommend him. We gained not only insight, but a new friend as well.

We had a great time on this tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and happy to share, and the tour was well planned and laid out. The tour moves quickly, but in a small group you can stop to smell the roses at any point. We scheduled the tour later in the day, and our guide and driver were able to accommodate the late time and adapted to show us interesting parts of the city when the expected museum was closed. Having never been visiting Jakarta, I really didn't know quite what to expect but as I came around city with the guide and it was pointed out that Jakarta is a big city, it was incredible. I was lucky to visit Jakarta. My guide was excellent to explain what the most highlight for me, and He is very fun. The chauffer was excellent with little traffic. I recommend this tour and the program of this company.
