Mordicai was a great guide! He was knowledgeable and flexible. When there was a line of traffic with a long wait time he turned around and brought us to the Dead Sea. We mentioned we wanted a good meal so he took us to the area that had a nice place to eat. The food was very good’ It was not very crowded and also had time swimming pools to swim in. The fact that it was private made it possible to be flexible. It was a little more $$$ than a large tour but worth it.

Cable car ride, walking tour of Masada, trip from Jerusalem to Masada
The place we stopped at the Dead Sea was horrible. I’ve been there before and faked our guide not to go there but he refused to go to another place.

Our guide Ellie picked us up at our hotel promptly at 09:00 am. His knowledge of Masada was very impressive and he explained how, even though they were in the desert, the rebels had access to water. It was a very hot day and Ellie kept the A/C in the car at a comfortable level. He was also careful to make sure we had plenty of water to drink. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day!

This was a great tour. If you have 5 people, the cost of a private tour is virtually the same as a group tour. Our guide was Moshe and I cannot say enough good things about my new friend. Not only is he fully versed in the history of the land, sites and people but he can also bring in the relevance and context of the different religious beliefs for any site. Moshe brought the site and struggle into focus and taught us about how the site of Masada survived in such a remote and harsh region. The other advantage to a private tour is flexibility and we were able to view Qasr el Yahud which was important to us because this was the site of the Baptism of Jesus as well as the site where the people entered the promised land. Because we have a small child that could not go into the Dead Sea, there was a different site that offers a fresh water pool to relax in so again, it's great to have the flexibility of a private tour.
We will visit again, and we'll only do tours with Moshe in the future!
