100% worth booking!
Mohamad_S, Apr 2024
Had a day and tour to remember with my guide Cpho from Moafrica Tours. The whole day was full of insightful information into the history of Soweto and South Africa as a whole. A great experience to see all parts of Soweto you don’t get to see externally. I wish you could have more time at the Apartheid museum - but there’s only so many hours in a day. Cpho was a great guide who was very welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable and funny! It’s definitely a tour worth booking👍🏽

Marc would answer any questions we asked and we got a very good insight into past and present South Africa. If you book this tour and have Marc as you guide you are in for an outstanding day.

Our host was very kind and had an answer to every question. The tour was a lot of information. The only thing I didn't find interesting was the F&B football stadium. Otherwise all the stops were super interesting.
Untold stories

Excellent tour and tour guide (Khotsu I believe). If you want to see and know authentic Soweto and if you want to see another slice of Johannesburg, this is the tour for you. Ending the day with the Apartheid Museum tied the tour together perfectly. Moving. It is a full day, so be prepared for that if you tire easily. Wear comfy shoes. Not an inordinate amount of walking but plenty of time on your feet standing and walking. Lunch is included but came later in the tour so eat something for breakfast so you can enjoy the pre-lunch portion of the tour. All in all well worth doing. And so educational. Take your children.
Highly recommend

It was a great tour. Van was comfortable. Lunch was great. Khutso, our guide, was very entertaining and informative. He also volunteered to take our photos, which is very helpful for solo travelers. The part of the informal settlement was very authentic and eye opening.
The guide really made the difference!

Great day tour to discover what is Soweto, its history and meeting the locals. We were taken around my a born and raised Sowetinian 😄, Tsolo, who is now a fantastic tour guide! Very good itinerary and very nice lunch at a local restaurant too. Must try - Soweto Gold, the local beer!
Learned and had a great traditional lunch
Mikaela_A, Oct 2023
The guide definitely had a passion and large knowledge base. The museums told excellent stories and were self guided. The included lunch was exceptional!
An education in institutional racism

Contrast between hopelessness of Soweto shantytowns and hope demonstrated by Mandela and Tutu exhibits at the Apartheid Museum.
Trip to Soweto

The visit to Soweto Seeing the lifestyle and homes and how the community lived. Seeing the poverty was heartbreaking but seeing their belief in hope and their level of community was inspirational The visit to the Apartheid museum was a great tribute to the hardships endured by SA Natives and their passage to human rights
A pleasant, worthwhile experience, not to miss!
An_V, Jul 2023
A very complete and worthwhile experience. Our guide Khutso was the best: very knowledgeable, good humoured, excellent English (and Afrikaans and even Dutch and some German) and he knew how to entertain a van of people coming from all corners of the world. We felt super safe, pick up in the morning was punctual. The tour itself leaves you with quite mixed feelings (specifically the visit to the poorer parts of Soweto and the Apartheid museum), yet it was one of the highlights of our holiday. I recommend to take this full day tour (as opposed the shorter trips offered by many other operators).
Great all day tour
Roxane_M, Jul 2023
I really enjoyed the apartheid museum as well as the Hector Peterson museum. Our guide was wonderful. We also got a personal tour of Soweto. Very interesting.
Great guide
Candle_A, Jul 2023
We enjoyed visiting Soweto. We were able to visit a local daycare and our Soweto guide welcomed us into his home. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive.
A very memorable Soweto experience
Diana_L, Jun 2023
This was a great tour from start to finish. Picked up on time by a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Our experience in Soweto was eye opening for me.The children were inspiring. The lunch of authentic South African food was great to try. Finished off with some time at the Apartheid Museum. Could have spent a lot longer at the museum as it was very interesting. A very memorable experience. Thank you MoAfrica
Good activies, but guide could have been better
Zahra_A, Jun 2023
The activities and the lunch where both good but I did feel like the guide tried to short change me from the start by saying I'd booked a half-day tour instead of a full day tour
African adventure
Paul_P, Apr 2023
It was an eye opening experience. We had a great time. We saw the good and the bad areas and portraits of history.
Great experience,
Marilyn_R, Apr 2023
What an informative and impactful day this was! FABULOUS! Walking through the streets of Soweto, visiting a nursery school, and meeting the people was an experience I will never forget. The Aparteid Museum was extraordinary. Mark warmly ushered us through the day and shared with us much about South African history, as well as the current situation there. Highly recommend!,
This tour provided the stated goals.
CATHLEEN_D, Mar 2023
This tour is without competition in the type of tour currently offered. It fit my interests. The tour guide was pleasant. There were 6 persons on this tour, having different interests. Tour became off schedule and ran late. I do not recommend this tour for persons who are not flexible.
Enjoyable Full-Day Soweto Tour
Claudie_B, Mar 2023
The tour guide was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. This Full-Day trip is much better than the 1/2 day. You will learn so much about the history of Johannesburg. The Apartheid Museum is a must see 2 hour self guided tour. A delightful lunch was provided from the area's restaurant best homecooked meal. You will have lots of fun.
