What To Expect

Begin with pickup at your hotel, then travel to Batu Caves in a private vehicle. Climb a long staircase into the cliff face, earning sweeping views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, then see the murals and shrines that are built into natural cave system.

Continue to the National Mosque, or Masjid Negara, a modern building surrounded by gardens. After donning a mosque-appropriate outfit at the entrance, you can walk around the inner part of the mosque to find traditional Islamic art, calligraphy, and ornamental architecture. Explore Malaysia’s Chinese Buddhist heritage at Thean Hou Temple, a 6-tiered structure that’s also called the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven, the traditional protector of fisherman. Find detailed engravings of Chinese dragons and phoenixes on the temples beams, eaves, and ceiling, and see shrines to the Goddess Shui Wei Sheng Niang and the Goddess of Mercy.

Take a short break at a Sikh Gurdwara, then visit the Petaling Street Market, filled with various stalls hawking foods from all around the world. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel after visiting the church.

Well worth the money!

This was basically a car service so if you feel comfortable taking public transportation you can save some money. But the money was well worth the convenience. The driver picked us up and took us where we wanted to go including the recommended sites. Our driver customized the route and stops for us. He also took us to a couple of final street markets we asked to visit, and this was after our tour was supposed to come to an end. Our driver was outstanding and I highly recommend!

Driver took me from place to place which was alright

The tour was alright, but I didn't actually get given much information about the places I was visiting. It was more like hiring a taxi driver to take me from place to place. The driver was nice, but he just drove me to one place for 30 minutes or so, waited in the car and then drove me to the next one. I have done a lot of tours and prefer something interactive where I learn a bit about the different places. It was alright if you are happy to have the equivalent of a driver.

Some comments about whether this is a guided tour or not. It isn’t. But it shouldn’t be. Fouzi, my driver, knew the history and was a great driver and guide in one. Would you expect every person to go walk up 272 steps every time? You can enjoy the sights and it’s entirely possible to enjoy without someone holding your hand. Men - no need for long pants. The mosque caters to those who don’t have the necessary covering. EXCELLENT time in KL

The tour was pretty good, I do believe it could be a little more interactive outside of the car. Our guide Wilson was extremely knowledgeable about KL. The tour could add a little more for the price felt more like a normal taxi ride.

The driver arrived late. At each location when we arrived, he would say "here it is". There was no guiding, no information provided, and an overall unfriendly tone. The description of the tour on Viator about having a guide is a misrepresentation. At the mosque, I was told all I could do was take a selfie on the curb, which was different than the description about the tour on the Viator website. The driver did not even offer to take the picture, which was a couple feet from the parked car. At Batu Caves, I told the driver that my phone does not work because I don't have internet access nor a local sim card. When I came back from the Chinese temple, the driver was upset that I took too long and did not answer my phone. He had not told me a time frame nor did he remember that I had informed him of my lack of phone connectivity. He should have set a time expectation. He should never have angrily said to me, "Where were you?" I would like to have a refund for this tour because the experience was awful. It wasted time from my limited vacation days.
