Not only fun & delicious, also extremely educational!
Holly_V, May 2024
Cannot recommend this tour enough. Not only is it delicious & fun, it’s extremely educational and we learned so much! We thought we knew a thing or two about coffee, turns out we didn’t! Jonathan did a great job keeping everyone engaged. Totally worth the time & money.
Educational fun trip

The most memorable part of the excursion was all the different chocolates, coffee tastings and Alberto!
Super informative tour
Jay_B, Apr 2024
This was an awesome tour. We sampled many different chocolates, learned the process and were well informed. The coffee portion was super informative to understand the different methods, where they originated and how the compare. Alberto was super knowledgeable and engaged with the group.
Educational and Delicious

Well-paced and informative tour of the north fields coffee and chocolate plantation. The tour guide was very friendly, passionate, and delivered the information in a way that was engaging to listen to. Delicious coffee and chocolate fresh from the plants you walk among. Plenty of shade so even hot afternoons are bearable.
Fun and informative tour!

We really enjoyed the tour and learning about coffee and chocolate production. The tour is around 3 hours and you get to try cups of coffee and some chocolate. I had a great experience!

We never went on the excursion No one ever told us that it was 3 hrs from where our ship docked until that morning
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Dear customer When you travel it is recomended to check locations and descriptions in advance. We never get to know where in the world our customers are when they book. Our tour description on viator says where we are located. (La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica). If you need to be picked up in the area we really apreciate you select the places that are listed on our description on viator. We are so sad you did not get to experinece our nice place.
Very knowledgeable and delicious trip
Lucien_L, Apr 2024

Great time with Stefan!...

Improvement tip
Vonetta_H, Apr 2024
Our tour guide was respectful, informative and professional. After saying this, I don’t want to reveal the tour guide’s name when I mention this below. One thing I will say to consider or improve on is: Tour guides when you are about to use the spoon to stir the coffee when making the coffee for the group. Do not touch your dirty fingers on the portion of the spoon that goes in coffee that everyone is going to drink. Do not talk with the spoon in your hand, use it when you are ready to stir the coffee. Overall, will highly recommend tour!!
Great way to spend the evening.
Danielle_S, Apr 2024
Fun experience! The have the cacao plants for the guide to pick, you sample each stage, he even shared his knowledge of the distribution. The coffee portion is more about the different beans and identifying quality and how to make the ‘perfect cup’
It was incredible...
Michelle_W, Apr 2024
It was incredible learning the process of how coffee and chocolate is made and taste testing everything.
Yummy Coffee and chocolate tour! Highly recommend!
Luciano_V, Apr 2024
Our tour guide was super knowledgeable about the cacao and coffee plantation! We had two coffee, tastings, three chocolate tastings, and one sugarcane tasting With a shot of Costa Rican rum. We were able to see some monkeys and some birds on the tour as well as a bunch of dogs on the plantation! Highly recommend this tour for anybody thinking about it and they give you an opportunity to buy locally made coffee and chocolate at the gift shop!
Highly recommended coffee and chocolate tour
Leia_S, Apr 2024
We had so much fun on our tour and the guides were knowledgable and personable. The tastings for both coffee and chocolate were delicious!
Tips
Jill_L, Apr 2024
Tips. They provide umbrellas for sun protection while walking, so you don't need to put on lots of sunscreen before the tour. It's shady most of the tour, too. There are a few stops where you sit down, and there's shade during those stops and most of the walking during the tour. There's a flat gravel trail you follow during the tour. You can wear flip-flops, but your feet will get a little dusty. There are nice bathrooms, no lockers, and parking right up front of the check-in area.
Fantastic educational tour!
Rubika_N, Apr 2024
Fantastic tour led by Alberto. Very educational, thorough, and at a great pace. And we got to try all kinds of chocolates and coffees! 100% recommend, completely worth it.
A great way to spend a couple of hours in the morning.
Howard_J, Apr 2024
I really enjoyed the tour, the guide was cool and I learned a lot about chocolate and coffee, and of course the best part is all the different sampling! Unlike a lot of Viator, this one felt like it was worth the price.
Fabulous experience!
Joe_N, Apr 2024
Our tour guide, David, was fantastic! Was a wonderful combination of knowledge and humor! The coffee and chocolate tastings were incredible!
