What To Expect

Receive a morning pickup from your hotel in the La Fortuna area, after which you transfer to your first activity of the day, featuring an exciting zipline adventure through the rain forest canopy.

Strap into your harness and don a helmet as your instructors explain the basics of controlling your speed on the park’s ziplines. Then prepare for fun (and perhaps some adrenaline too) as you fly at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (70 kilometers per hour) amidst the rain forest treetops like a jungle bird, taking advantage of seven of the zipline course’s best rides. One ride requires a climb up a 54-foot (18-meter) high tower followed by 360-foot (120-meter) ride over a scenic canyon. Another zipline features more than 3,200 feet (980 meters) of cable above La Fortuna Waterfall, making it the longest in the entire park.

After your zipline adventure, hop aboard the trip’s 4x4 jeep and enjoy an included fruit snack as you head to the Balsa River. When you arrive at the white-water rafting spot, put on your gear and get an introduction to safe paddling and rafting commands from your guides. Then climb into your raft and prepare to get wet along the Class II and III rapids of this fast-moving waterway. You might even scout sloths, toucans, and monkeys in the surrounding jungle, and have time to spare for a refreshing swim.

When the rafting trip is done, head to the day’s included lunch spot, where you dig into a typical Costa Rican-style meal served at a traditional country estate. Following lunch, receive a ride back to your hotel in La Fortuna, to be dropped off in the late afternoon.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Unforgettable experience

One of the most thrilling days we’ve had in Costa Rica. The zip lining was probably the most intense but the views were incredible and we’re both glad we did it. Afterwards we went rafting with Wave rafting. Daniel was very friendly and kind throughout the short bus ride to the river. My husband and I rafted with Jonathan who just made the whole experience even more fun. Definitely book if you want to experience adventure and create unforgettable memories!

BEST excursion in La Fortuna!

Our experience with this tour was incredible! We were in a group of 6 for the zip lining which was a perfect size. Our guides for zip lining, Eric and Eduardo, were great and so good at helping us get the most out of our zip lining experience by explaining the optimal positions to be in and making adjustments for each person’s weight. The wave tour company really took care of everything, transporting us to and from the zip lining and providing us with a break to change, rest, and eat snacks (provided) before heading out to go rafting. Rafting was an unbelievable experience! Our guide Sassy was so great, and even though it was my first time rafting I never felt uncomfortable because he did such a good job at guiding us through the rapids. He is an expert on the wildlife and much of the ecological history of the area, and being able to learn as we were rafting really enhanced the experience. He let us practice our Spanish as well, and encouraged picking up new words related to the activity. His many years of experience as a rafting guide clearly show in his ability to engage the group while delivering clear instructions and keeping us safe. Absolutely an unforgettable part of our trip! The lunch afterward was fantastic as well (probably one of the best casado style meals we had on the trip). This tour is absolutely worth the money and was probably the best thing we decided to do in costa rica.

The best part of my Costa trip

The staff was excellent. We stopped for fresh fruit in the middle for a well needed rest. Our guide pointed out a sloth and we saw a good bit of other wildlife. Overall the trip was amazing from the beautiful views on the zip lines to cooling off in the white waters.

Very fun excursion! Zip lining had amazing views of waterfalls and rafting was very fun! Bigger rapids than used to in the States, but just enough excitement and still stayed in the raft. Alonso was a great guide!

We have a family of five (kids 14, 12 and 9) and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the river. They helped my kids learn some Spanish and showed us every bit of wildlife there was to see on the Balsa. The drive was an hour there and then back. They cut up fresh fruit on the river and took us to a lovely place for lunch after rafting. If we didn’t have our 9 year old, doing 3’s and 4’s would have been better for us. We also added the zip lining in the morning and that was amazing!

A definite repeater!

This was our favorite tour of all. The zip lining over the falls was awesome! Just disappointed that there were no professional pictures taken for us. Allen and Hector were great! They even offered to tandem someone in the group who has second thoughts about going once we reached the top of the first platform and that was an awesome option so she could continue. The lines were really long and there were many so you definitely got your money's worth. Danny, our bus guide was also very nice and professional. There was plenty of food and drinks offered to us throughout the entire day. Our rapids guide, Johairy was beyond phenomenal. So professional yet lots of fun!! I'd say team Johairy was the best raft out of the group of 10- thanks mostly to him. Would do this day again in a heartbeat.

Amazing!!

Trip was fantastic! Started with 7 amazing zip lines in the morning and one zip line you could view La Fortuna waterfall. There were lockers for $2 to store personal belongings (recommended). Then we went back to the wave rafting place for snacks and we were shuttled 45 min to the start of the river where we did rafting. Make sure to bring water shoes!! We could leave personal items on the bus for rafting. It was fantastic! If you are more an adrenaline junkie I suggest the class 3/4 rapids, but this was still great. You could buy photos for $40, which my friend group did! After reacting we had a traditional Costa Rican lunch. Amazing 9 hour trip overall

Action Packed Day!

We started out with our transport to the zip lines. The guides welcomed us and gave us a safety intro. We then boarded a bus to head up to the zip lines. The zip lines were fun and very fast compared to others we did. Great views of the canopy and the Arenal Waterfall. Afterwards we boarded a bus and went rafting. The raft tour has a great guide and fun on the River. We saw howler monkeys and a sloth. We stopped for some delicious fruit and concluded with a delicious, authentic buffet lunch before being transported back to the hotel. We really enjoyed the tour! Would be great for families with older kids as there is some hiking between zip lines and the physical nature of the rafting.

A well organized adventure. The entire experience was really fantastic. For River Rafting, we loved Martha (our driver), Carlos (our host) & Goosey (our river guide). They were all very knowable & so much fun. For our Zipline experience, it was also fantastic. Unfortunately I don't remember any of the guides names, but they were all so very nice & made us feel very safe. One female family member (see picture) was very nervous because we were so high above the trees. One of the guides (pictured next to her to the right) was so sweet & he had a very special way about him & was able to calm her down. He piggy-backed with her on the zip-line & made her feel very safe. He was so kind & caring, we give him extra, extra kudo's!!

The zip lining crew was absolutely fabulous- they were highly encouraging and I felt very safe the entire time. The white rafting was also very fun just felt a little quick. Lunch was equally delicious. Honestly a great way to do 2 fun activities in one day. Definitely also get a lot for your money. Do keep in mind if you would like to buy photos- bring cash or card. Also quite a bit of shuttle traveling from place to place. Overall a great experience!
