The tour guide was very knowledgeable and professional. She did a great job. The scenery is beautiful on those 3 villages that we visited. She gave us time on every village, it was one hour on the first two, and in Montterosso 1 1/2 hour. The limoncino tasting I would have prefer the creamy type. Overall a very great experience.

Great Guide, Beautiful Cities

Our trip to Cinque Terre was wonderful with this experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job helping us navigate the trains through Cinque Terre. At each town we were given enough knowledge to highlight some of the unique parts of each town, but it was brief enough to give us plenty of time to explore on our own. The limoncino tasting was a great experience, though it is worth noting that the tasting is just a single stop along the trip. Our guide did a wonderful job explaining the differences between limoncello and limoncino and gave us some great advice on what variety we should bring back as a memento of our trip.

The price increased two days before the event stating that train costs increased which was the only disappointing thing. Lisa, our guide was amazing, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Her ability to multi task with three languages in our small group was amazing to see. Great weather made for an amazing day.

To much drama just to purchase a train ticket package

Do to a glitch in the system the date was changed to an in correct one After booking everything went to Chinese writing and then finally came on a while later. . The site froze up and I didn’t see til two days later that they thought we were coming in January instead of May. When my phone rang at 4 am Chicago time it was the tour people calling to say the time had changed. Thats when I noticed the confirmation email with the wrong date in small print up in the corner I immediately got a hold of them and also called Viator. They refused to change to the correct date since it was past the 24hour period Italy time so we lost the total purchase price. Very disappointing.

Tour not the best

I felt that this tour with this guide was really not much more than a paid escort to get us to the trains and to get us from town to town. Very little historical context was given or explanation of what we were seeing other than a few minutes near the church in vernazza. In past tours recommended and listed by Viator I have had guides that really explained and pointed out things. I think this guide (Lisa) needs to give more of a tour / explanation when she stops at the various towns,

Tour was well organized. The group travelled by train and stopped at three of the Cinque Terra towns. The first stop was very short and could have been skipped to allow more time at the other two. Limoncino tasting was nice. Sample size small. Would have liked to have purchased a larger "sample". Definitely recommend this tour.

Way too crowded

The 20 minute walk to train was at least 30 minutes, the train was crowded. Cinque Terre has lost its luster, due to heavy crowds and ridiculous rules, like where you can sit. We tried to order a beer and sit down but we were not allowed to sit because we were not ordering food. Went to another place and ordered a pizza for 3 of us and they said we each had to order a pizza to sit there. Not a good experience.

Excellent guide and great time of the year to visit. Wife and I met wonderful people and great locals. Food was outstanding and prices were good.

Could do it on your own for a lot less for the price of a train ticket-and there is a lot of walking!

Anyone booking this should be made aware that there is a considerable amount of walking. From the meeting point at the cruise terminal there is a half hour walk to the railway station. When reaching any of the villages you will find that absolutely everywhere you go will involve steps and very steep streets, then you have the half hour walk at the end of the tour from the railway station back to the cruise terminal which you have to navigate yourself. The guide leaves you at the railway station. The limoncello tasting session is just a stop off in a wine shop. If you went in there on your own and asked to try any of the wines they would let you, as they make it all themselves and are glad for people to try in order to sell. Incidentally it was actually limoncino not limoncello which has a very different taste, being more bitter.

Itcwas a nice introduction to an area where I scheduled a week after the cruise. It was more strenuous than I anticiped as it was very hot, the trains were crowded and there was little opportunity to sit down. Nothing you could control!!! The guide was a delight, and did a great job. Rather than walk the mile ++ from the Train station in LA Spezia to the cruise port, several of us hot and exhausted voyagers took a cab. I would take this tour again in a cooler month. It was a good introduction to Cinque Terre.

Serina our guide met us directly outside of the port. We then walked to the train station. After discussing the day ahead, it was apparent that we would not make it back to the ship for sail away. However, Serina assured us that she would sort everything out. The tour to Cinque Terres was excellent and we saw 3 out of the 5 villages. At each station, Serina discussed the best things to go and see and then we had free time in each of the villages. At the last stop, we did not do the tasting part of the tour, Serina had our rail tickets delivered to our mobile phones and then guided us to the correct train to get back to La Spezia and the best time train to get us back in time for sail away. We had to be back on the ship by 5.30 latest and we were back on by 4.30. Cutting the tour short was not a problem, as we saw and did everything we wanted to do. I would definitely recommend this tour. Yes, it is a 20-30 minute walk to the train station, however, the guide pointed out and explained points of interest. This is not a fully guided tour, however, all points of interest were discussed and Serina was on hand to answer any questions and it was great to be able to see the villages at our own pace. Please be aware, this would be a difficult tour for anybody with mobility issues as there are lots of steps / hills.
