Charming Lucca

We made a day trip from Florence and had a wonderful tour in Lucca with Chiara! She was very knowledgable and interesting to learn from and she introduced us to some yummy typical foods of Lucca! We would highly recommend this tour!

Marta was an excellent tour guide. She is extremely friendly and informative. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lucca. The food and drinks were tasty and more than I expected. We will not soon forget the laughs we had sitting under the canopy of a trattoria in the torrential rain. Grazie Mille Marta.

The walk through Lucca was great because detailed information was provided about the structures and how they developed and were shaped by history. We learned so much. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about Lucca. The tour included two food experiences. A pastry and coffee shop which was absolutely great. And a lunch at the end of the tour which was also great. At both of these stops the guide had prearranged all details making transitions smooth and creating time for the other parts of the tour. Highly recommend this tour.

Meeting location was easy to find, right in front of Lucca train station. Our guide Chiara was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly, she really made the tour so relaxed and enjoyable. We learned so much about Lucca and enjoyed eating together with our group and chatting. Perfect addition to our trip.

Great tour to visit a great city

We booked this tour last minute with a few other couples. The tour was great from getting to the location to experiencing the town (we stayed in Chianti). We drove in and parked at the train station meeting the guide a very short walk away. The city was beautiful and we learned a lot walking around in our small group. The guide was very knowledgeable and the food was excellent. I suggest the Cecina as it is one of the things Lucca is known for food wise. I highly recommend this trip.

Our tour was made memorable by our guide “Chiara”. She made us fell like we were taking a tour with a long time friend and was very knowledgeable on the history of Lucca and of Italy. An excellent tour to learn about the history of Lucca and where it fit in from the Roman times, to the pre-renaissance period where it maintained it’s independence, to the building of the Renaissance walls and finally the influence of Napoleon’s sister, Elisa. The walk thru the city brought the history to life as our guide pointed out details that you would normally miss. The stops to sample Luccese foods was an added treat. The highlight was learning the story of the Volto Santo, The Holy Face of Lucca, since we will be in Lucca for Luminara Santa Croce on 13 September.

Wonderful tour of Lucca with 3 stops for food. Enjoyed hearing local history but the best part was enjoying the food! First food stop was for drinks, cheese and meats. The group was small-8 so we were able to chat. Second stop was a bakery where we had one savory and one sweet treat! The tour ended with gelato. The guide spoke excellent English and was knowledgeable. The only thing missing was a list of the stops we made with the names of the foods we tasted. Well worth going!!!
