Take a break from sightseeing and try your hand at surfing during this immersive surf lesson in Madeira. This half-day experience teaches you the basics of the sport so that you can feel confident enough to catch some waves. Pickup details

In case you need pick you up and drop from Funchal, Caniço and Santa Cruz a extra fee of 10€ per person will be charged (to be paid on the day of the activity) Funchal Meeting point (Pick-up/drop-of) in front of the CR7 Museum; Caniço and Santa Cruz, meeting point to be defined upon booking. Price on request for Pick-up/Drop-off in other places.

  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

Memorable experience travelling

The team at Aroundfreedom were incredible. From pick up and drop off, and the whole morning. After a quick lesson we were on the water to maximize our time surfing. We were able to get a ton of waves. Those who doubted they could, were getting up most of the time. Incredible experience for people who always wanted to try surfing. Highly recommend booking with this crew.

Our son had so much fun! Both surfing teachers were super kind and did a very good job (and there job is hard!) The surfing teachers are patient, motivated and make you feel good during the lesson! Roberto even picked us up at the hotel before the lesson and brought us back after wards!

I had a wonderful surf experience, Francisco gave me louds of info as for beginner, he pic me up at hotel, offer great coffee on a coast of the ocean, was super friendly, informative, sharing, just cool guy.. thank you Francisco! unfortunately waves was to strong for me and I didn’t used all of my booked time, but that’s another story :))

I highly recommend this experience ! A really good time spent with an amazing and caring team ! They really made sure that each of us(a group of 7) was having a good time and always be safe. For the ones that struggled the most, they truly supported them and congrated them absolutely each time which they really appreciate and that motivated them to try again and again

Mr. Roberto has great respect on site. Excellent teacher. Safety first. He does not allowed any unjustified risk. Good plan for lesson: warm up, lesson on beach and then go to sea. He is really pro. He explains what to do to enjoy surfing and what behavior is absolutely dangerous and simply stupid. Just listen to him and learn.

Le spot a du être changé sur la plage de Seixal, puisqu’il n’avait pas du tout de vagues au point initial Roberto est absolument génial, merci beaucoup Dommage que dans le groupe on était très nombreux, même si il y avait deux profs, et que la plage de Seixal était absolument bondée comme d’habitude..

Ich habe mit meinem Sohn den Grundkurs surfen besucht. Die Surflehrer sind super nett und erklären es sehr gut. Sie geben gute Tipps und motivieren alle. Es war ein super Erlebnis und die Surfschool kann ich nur empfehlen. Immer wieder gerne. Die Wellen haben für Anfänger gereicht.

L'istruttore è stato disponibile e puntuale al prelievo al nostro appartamento. Ben preparato e spiegazioni chiare anche in lingua inglese. Nonostante fosse la prima volta, grazie ai suoi consigli, siamo riusciti ad ottenere buoni risultati. Istruttore smpatico e gentile!
