What To Expect

Depart in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and relax during the scenic journey inland through picturesque hamlets.

Next, descend to the atmospheric depths of the Cavern of the Dragon with your accomplished guide. Stroll through the stalactite-studded passages of the cavern and gain insight into the natural wonders’ fascinating history; discovered in the 14th century, the colossal caves stretch for more than 1.5 miles (2.4 km). During your stint beneath ground, enjoy a moving 10-minute classical music performance.

Gaze at a spectacular light show that bathes Lake Martel (the world’s largest underground lake) in luminous color then climb aboard a boat for a panoramic tour of the water. If you wish, continue to explore the Cavern of the Dragon on foot and meet your group at a pre-arranged spot.

On this excursion you will also have the opportunity to visit the world famous Majorica Pearls and purchase gifts or simply treat yourself at special prices.

If you choose the full day tour: emerge into the Spanish sunshine and venture to Porto Cristo to absorb the charm of this quaint fishing village. See the town’s most significant sights on an informative guided tour the explore the enclave independently during some relaxed free time; see the 15th century watchtower or relax in a prime selection of rustic restaurants and ambient cafes.

Return to your original departure point in your comfortable transportation.

The visit to Cavern of the Dragon includes a considerable amount of steps. Surfaces might be wet, so appropriate footwear is recommended

Your excursion starts in Palma at 9:30, but we offer a exclusive courtesy return bus from your resort to take you to the meeting point where the trip starts, and then back to your resort. This is free and optional. Then, you don’t need to pay extra for a taxi or to get on different public buses to reach the place where the tour starts.

Q:What is the temperature inside the caves?

A:The temperature inside the caves is 18-20 degrees all year round, so it is not cold at all and suitable to be visited at any time of the year.

Q:Can I visit the Caves if I have walking difficulties?

A:There are 300 steps in total inside the Caves.119 steps are way up from the Lake Martel to the exit. We had clients aged over 80 and they managed to do it. Just take your time, walk slowly and enjoy. Caves are not wheelchair or baby stroll accessible

A:During the tour you can take photos and videos without using flash, lights or tripods, and without interrupting the passage of other visitors or lag behind the group. During the concert it is not permitted. Follow the directions of staff at all times

This tour sucks and is misleading!!!

This tour was not as expected. We drove over an hour each way picking and dropping off guest. When we arrived at the caves we walked through in about 15 minutes and then we sat and listened to music for about another 10. We spent the most time waiting in line for our 30 second boat ride which was about 50 feet long. People were disappointed and if I would have known I would have never chosen this tour. Save your money and skip it. I never write reviews but we were so disappointed it was a must. I am seriously considering disputing the charge with my credit card!!

Must see but most likely won't get the boat ride

This was an enjoyable tour. After the concert, however, only a few people were able to take the short, short boat ride because the line was too long. The tour wasn't long enough to accommodate the boat ride which is deceiving on the synopsis of the tour on Viator.

Not what we expected.Long bus ride, then queued up with hundreds of others that traverse narrow passageways while snapping photos. Wait inline for 30 minutes for 5 minute boat ride then ascend to bus ride home. Classical music was lovely but only 10 minutes long.

Terrible experience! Please read reviews as this isn’t the first time they’ve messed up this bad!

I wish there was an option for 0 stars because to put it plainly, services were not rendered. Please note that before booking I’ve read similar reviews that they were just left in the street to fend for themselves and that’s literally what happened to us too! Just be aware!!! The vendor sent a msg through Viator saying pick up is at Porto Pi at 9am. We arrived at 8:45am and waited until 9:15am but they never arrived. They did not provide a call back number and they are not accessible via WhatsApp like all other vendors. They were in contact with another group and they sent photos of where Porta Pi was and that’s exactly where we all were. I decided to take a taxi to the other pickup location and arrive at 9:30am. When I arrived there was only 1 tour bus. I gave him my information and he allowed us in after speaking with someone on the phone. However, his tour is 7 hours and I’ve only payed for a 5 hour tour. After the first stop which was at the Pearl shop, he told me he will get us into Drach Caves at 12pm and we’d have to be responsible for our ride back to the port. We had no choice since No Frills could not be reached AT ALL. After Drach Caves we struggled looking for a taxi. We had to call a local taxi service which was a long distance call and had to pay over 80€ to get us back with 5 mins to spare for our cruise. Please be aware it’s difficult finding a taxi at Porto Cristo where Drach Caves is located. It’s also an hour + away from the port. We were so stressed that we wouldn’t make it back on time for the cruise! We had to take 3 taxis that day. When I filed for a refund they rejected it and said it’s my fault that I was on the wrong bus. If they arrived I wouldn’t have been in a different bus! Even Viator gaslit me and said it was my fault when I arrived 15mns early and have done my part. This is through WhatsApp and they just kept passing me onto a different staff asking me what the issue is when I’ve explained it several times already. One of them explicitly said they couldn’t contact the vendor so they can’t even confirm what happened but they just wouldn’t help me with the refund because the vendor already rejected it. It’s really some customer service department Viator is running. If it only happened to me I’d understand but there’s also another party on the same cruise who was given the same instructions and we both were not picked up by No Frills. We were all in that same bus because there were no other buses there. I’m so disappointed in this service and specially Viator’s customer service. Both parties are terrible. Viator does not advocate for their customers/users. They said if I wanted to get it investigated further I need to provide documentation. What kind of documentation, I asked, and they can’t say anything. What proof can I provide that I was there 15mns early? Video footage from the government??

hi this is the response from the activity operator: Our company has a zero-tolerance policy on threats in regards to bad reviews in exchange of no refund being given. We have looked in to your complaint further and we have communicated to you that the refund wasn´t and will not be issued and the reasons why. You were basically not at the meeting point and at the designated time. A video and GPS proof were provided to viator and your bank, and this is why you haven’t been refunded, as you were not at the designated time and point. It seems you went to another meeting point and who knows on what bus you got on, as that was not ours. We take pride in the work we put in as a company to ensure everyone has the best time and experience possible, we do understand sometimes things can happen, sometimes human error can occur or even sometimes it´s just not what was expected, however, certain attitudes or threats will not be tolerated and cannot be justified regardless of the situation.

Really lovely experience, the musicians and the atmosphere was amazing! My one criticism is that the queue for the boats were so long, I would have missed my coach back if I had waited. Disappointed I didn’t get to do the short boat trip. Bought loads at the pearl shop.

During the bus ride we learned a lot about the island and the history. Our guide was extremely knowledge and kind. She shared great insight and was helpful from start to finish. The caves were great as well, but the pearl shop was highly enjoyable and informative.

Very nice day. The best thing was the concert in the caves and the boat ride in the cave. This was exceptionally well done! The fact that we did not have to go to the pearl factory was nice. We did get to go to an excellent cafe which overlooked the water and boats in Porto Cristo! Maryanne was an excellent guide and told us about the cafe.

Lovely day trip, we were picked up 2 minutes away from our hotel and met up with more people at Palma and set off. We were very luck to be with Mariana, our fantastic guide, who had a lot of interesting information to share all along the trip, she even helped us out with recommendations for local desserts and almond icecream. Lolo our lovely driver was very kind to pick us up and drop us at our hotel. The pearl factory was up to us, not a obligatory commercial thing, you can skip and take a peaceful walk by the bay with coffee or drinks. The caves were outstanding, gets crowded but very organised. Skip the boat ride if the queue is long, it's not anything you will regret missing. Recommended trip.

It was a really long bus ride for such a short time there. We were on the bus for an hour each way for the bus to drop off 4-5 other groups of site seers. I would’ve driven myself I think

The caves were like nothing I have seen before. Then to have a little concert in the dark...that was pretty cool. The description seemed like we would have a boat ride in the lake, but that was only for transport only to the exit which was crazy packed. So walking was so much faster. Also, the boat ride was normal lit, not colorful as in what the pictures depict.

The cave experience was just amazing. The tour guide was so informative and super accommodating . Pickup was a little hard and we missed the first bus by 2 min but they called and we were able to get on the another bus.. the drop off location was great because it was near all the restaurants and shops.. it was very easy to catch a taxi to the the port. Truly love it

I really thought I’d found a better price for the full day tour, turns out I just paid slightly more than on trip advisor for the half day. Feel a bit miffed that it really wasn’t clear what you were getting. But to be honest I was glad we only did the half day, they turned up half an hour late, we had no idea where we were supposed to wait or what we were looking for, were only told what the tour company provider was called 4 minutes before they were supposed to show. The bus was horrible and stuffy, we spent as long at some naff service station where they tried to sell us pearls as we did at the caves. We enjoyed the caves, yes it’s a tourist procession but if you’re prepared for that it’s just a little amusing. Was glad to be back in Palma for an afternoon nap and then dinner out on our own terms. Wouldn’t have wanted to be taken to whatever lunch establishment gives them the best commission
